A recent study on protein-rich foods, including beef and tofu, revealed microplastics in nearly 90% of samples.

"Researchers from the Ocean Conservancy and the University of Toronto analyzed more than a dozen different types of proteins including seafood, pork, chicken, beef, and tofu. They found microplastics in nearly 90% of the samples they tested and estimated that the average American adult may consume at least 11,000 pieces of microplastics each year."

There was a short period of time that you could buy hand soaps with microplastics in the soap. It helped scrub the hands clean. They passed a law against it. At least here in California. I'm not sure if it was a Federal or California law.

I remember this. About 20 or so years ago. The microbeads were added to shower gels and facial washes to help with exfoliating the skin. California started the ban, but I don't know whether it led to a federal ban. But bad press, and the bad economies of making special versions of products just for California, meant the ban went nationwide, feds or not.
