Maybe the mods should hold a certain member accountable for his constant, unprovoked attacks on me that have been occurring for years. Other male members have pointed out that this member is constantly attacking me unprovoked. What will it take for one of you to do something about it? After so many incidents, shouldn't there at least be a suspension? Y'all literally let Steve Levicoff call me the b-word, and now you're letting his mini-me do whatever he wants.

If you believe a comment is sexist, then please do report it.

And for the record, none of the moderators who are now active would tolerate you (or anyone else) being called that word. But we don't necessarily see everything, especially quickly, so reporting ToS violations helps.

I'll do that, and I'll send screenshots to his employer because there's no telling how he treats his female students.

I don't know who you're talking about, but I'd be concerned about tortious interference.

Showing an employer public behavior by an employee who openly represents them is not tortious interference. People get fired all the time for their inappropriate behaviors on social media, and other social media users were the ones who sent the information.

That is twice you brought that up in the last while. Honestly Rich, I think you give it a broader application that courts do. It, with IP law, libel/slander/defamation are among the hardest to and most expensive to fight and win.

There is endless bad mouthing of competition that occurs in business, but not endless lawsuits for a reason

^^ This ^^. I don't have much to add and really don't know what I would do in such a situation but to do exactly that (reporting it). Thanks for letting people know this is happening on the board, I've seen this on other boards too. Hopefully this is a fair warning to those reading and will reconsider their position and be more conscious of their own actions and take accountability for them.

Sexist? What a laughable concept! Guess it's what people like to do.

"It's because I'm a woman." "It's because I'm Black..." When will we stop pulling these lousy cards?

Good luck with your report(s)! HAHAHA!

Woah, I guess I missed the boat on this.

I did a quick Google search and did find the thread being referenced. The moderators will need to make the call on that, but I want to acknowledge what you are bringing up. It's the first time I had seen it. Personally, I do not use that sort of language... and this is partly why.

I do agree that I have seen some gender related salacious comments. I usually try to find a way to deal with it on the board either to turn the joke in a different direction or just get people thinking.

I remember you agreeing with Steve Levicoff calling me the b-word. I'm sure your female students would love to hear that. As much as you attack me unprovoked, I think you're projecting when you talk about jealousy.

Women should not join this forum because moderators do not suspend or ban long-time members no matter how egregious they are, but this forum has never attracted many women for a reason. Heck, this forum has hardly attracted anyone, but I digress.

It's disappointing to see legitimate concerns from the original poster, who is one of the central contributors to this community, mocked by one respondent.

Steve L. is a flamboyant gay man, and it's been noted that many gay men use the b-word casually and often fondly. Yet, reasonable readers will often interpret the word otherwise.

Certainly a legitimate concern. I haven't seen you attacked but don't read every post. Did you report the post(s) and behavior?

I would echo Rich Douglas's concern about tortious interference. I am not an attorney. You may win the case in the end but can you afford being swept up in a lawsuit that drags out? I have seen people who were and either ended up paying to get out without admitting guilt (but not wanting to bear the costs of further litigation) or winning but it was very expensive. In the end, you win but owe a lot of money to an attorney and can't collect from the other person.

It seems to be a new trend to threaten to send things to people's employers. I saw that on an article where someone in the comments section disagreed with transgenderism as a "scientific fact". They were dragged in the comments section for a while and then someone threatened to turn it over to their employer to get them fired.

I'm familiar with the AAVE generations of White gay men younger than Steve L. appropriated, and his context was not flamboyance.

I agree, and while I did not see a report on that particular comment, I was able to find it and have removed it.

I realize that three years is not very punctual, but I hope doing so now conveys seriousness about the future.

How did I agree with him? By liking his post? You cannot provide any evidence that any of my posts, even if they were viewed as personal attacks, were sexist. So, if you're going to assume that I treat my female students poorly based on any supposedly sexist comments I've made to you (which there were none), then I won't try to convince you otherwise. Maybe you should contact the principal at the all-girls school I taught for three years and you'll find out who had some of the best relationships with the students. Interestingly, the students who reached out to thank me at the end of each semester this past academic year were female. I guess that says a lot about how poorly I treat them.

Have you been sued for something you said about someone else? I have. Let me know when you get through your first lawsuit. I'd love to hear about it.

I tried to find the post(s) this is in reference to, but I was not successful.
