It's on their website now, so clearly it is public news.

The message to students is that it will be in Sausalito, California (just across the bridge from SF), sharing premises with an established college, with all new administration, and reforumated as a non-profit corporatio.

I find this fascinating, confusing, and totally unexpected. I cannot find evidence of any colleges in Sausalito, but John Walsh of Brannagh assures me there is one.

It will surely be interesting to watch this one, especially vis a vis (a) which college, and (b) what will be done with regard to California approval.

Sausalito would be my favorite place to live...if I could afford to.

Even the Sausalito Chamber doesn't admit to a college in Sausalito. It does mention two in Marin County:

    http://www.sausalito.org/community/index.cfm
College of Marin (415) 457-8811 http://www.marin.cc.ca.us/about.htm (two campi, neither in Sausalito)

    Dominican College of San Rafael (415) 457-4440 - www.dominican.edu

I read that New College began in Jack Leary's living room in Sausalito, but I think they relocated to SF or somewhere nearby.

With Greenwich University moving to the USA I predict that many people who defined Greenwich as a 'degree mill', plus a number of 'academics' in the Australian Government, will soon have egg all over their faces. And rightly so:)

Well, it will be interesting to see what GU does about moving toward accreditation.

Academy of Intuitive Studies and Intuition Medicine?

It could be the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training; it's the only BPPVE approved school in Sausalito. I don't think they have actual facilities, however, as their classes and lectures are held at a couple of churches in Mill Valley.

In regards to Greenwich’s CA approval, that would indeed be interesting. Then again, there’s always the possibility of religious exemption.

The move to Sausalito, however, may not be a bad idea. Locating Greenwich University in one of the numerous houseboats has some distinct advantages, such as simply picking up anchor the next time they choose to move. ;)

PSalmon: Academy of Intuitive Studies and Intuition Medicine?

    Bingo. Good find!

Their website (http://www.intuitionmedicine.com/) shows that founder Francesca McCartney has her BS from Greenwich and is a current Ph.D. student there. And their "Photo Gallery" has two photos: one of the graduation of their "Master of Intuitive Management" class (do they have permission to grant degrees???), and the other being "The Academy Welcomes Dr. John Walsh of Brannagh, Chancellor, and Pauline Butler, President of Greenwich University — September 25, 2002."

They seem to be involved with every 'new age' practice going:
homeopathy, radionics, reiki, qi gong, huna, aura life-force, kundalini, energy anatomy, color meditation, divine science of the soul, theosophy, Rosicrucianism, etc. etc. etc.

They say that "Further information will be available shortly on our affiliated degree programs with Greenwich University" which they identify as "an accredited university established in Norfolk Island, Australia."

So it looks as if the Greenwich presence in Sausalito (which is immediately next to Mill Valley, where the Academy's P.O. Box is) is more than just a loan of office space and staff. The big question, of course, is under what authority Greenwich/Sausalito will award its degrees.

    Dr. Bear:

Once the school is operational, under CA Law, will they be able to confer degrees to recent students who did not re-enroll to other schools?

    Thanks,

Perhaps Uncle Janko can provide the forum (and us colonials')
with an insight as to why he believes Greenwich University is a 'degree mill'? :(

Mr Hayes suffers from an irony deficiency. Perhaps if he ate more sausalitos his humorglobin would perk up.

I shall be speaking to the moderators to ensure that all Kiwis have their posting permissions revoked ;)

    Cheers,

    George

PS Why are you so hung up on Greenwich? Are you a graduate from its New Zealand days?

If the moderators allow Australian's to use Degreeinfo my Qantas Frequent Flyer membership should count for something? I'm also probably the only Kiwi member, which must also be important as it throws a higher degree of inteligence into the debate and this undoubtedly raises the whole profile of Degreeinfo!
Seriously though, I have heard that Greenwich University has produced many graduates who have used their Greenwich degree with success. And as I see it Greenwich was a pioneer in internet distance education, but it was never welcome in Australia because it operated outside 'the establishment' and was not run by Australian's.
I'd like to know from the Australian contributors (and Uncle Janko) why they believe Greenwich is a 'degree mill'. Have they studied with Greenwich and successfully completed a Greenwich degree? Where does a Greenwich degree differ from UOP, CCU and other Universities in the USA which offer degrees through internet study? :)

Ag, shame. I did not say Greenwich was a degree mill. Mill Valley would be a pretty funny address and an even better new name. Let me type this next part real slow: i t ' s a j o k e. G e d d i t ?

Uncle Janko has confirmed that he has a sense of humour and therefore could not possibly be an Australian!:)
