    Hello fellows,

I hope to get some feedback on my study plan and whether or not will it work.

I am currently a student at a UK university doing distance learning Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) in Psychology which is 120 UK credits (60 US Quarter credits).

It takes 18 months to complete this CertHE, I didn’t find any accelerated program in the UK so here’s my plan:

In the next 18 months, and while taking this CertHE, I am planning to take 15 courses from study.com, straighterline...etc equivalent to 45 US credits.

So by the end of the 18 months, I will have 45 quarter credits from these online courses and I will have 60 quarter credits from the UK CertHE. In total, I will hold 105 quarter credits.

My question is: How likely is it that I could transfer those 105 to a US university (I aim at ASU, Penn State Global campus or Capella)?

How can I know which courses should I take on study.com and the others?

    Does my plan make sense?

Thank you so much in advance.

    Welcome, romoh!

First, I think you're somewhat confusing quarter hour credits with semester hour credits. Most colleges in the U.S. use semester hour credits; 1 semester hour converts to 1.5 quarter hours. 3 semester hours is the most common length of an American college course, and the length of most courses from alternative providers like SDC and SL.

Next, what you've described is too unspecific so far for the community here to be all that helpful with. Practices on foreign transfer credit, and on credit for courses from non-collegiate providers like SDC and SL, can even vary between departments (majors) at one college, let alone between Arizona State, Penn State World Campus, and Capella.

By the way: Arizona State and Penn State are nationally famous, prestigious, historic brick and mortar public research universities. Capella is a for-profit online university, and it's in a different category reputationally from the other two. That's mostly because of the for-profit part – there are fine online colleges or universities that are public like Charter Oak State College, or private nonprofit like Excelsior College.

Choose at least one specific degree program as your goal, and we can – and you can yourself – start working out more directly what steps can get you there.

    Good luck!

The major you're aiming at will make a difference. The amount of money your can afford will make a difference. Lots of schools will accept 90 credits. A few will accept them all. Look on the CLEP forum for threads on testing out, test choices, etc.

One benefit to both Charter Oak State College and Thomas Edison State University is that they are both state schools within their respective state systems.

When you drive through Connecticut you see a lot of UConn stickers on cars but also a fair number of COSC stickers. As JB says, it’s just a part of the state university system and a lot of local people earn their degrees there.

Your plan for Pennsylvania State University is unrealistic, Penn State will not take any credits from Study.Com and Straighterline. I don't think Arizona State University takes them neither. The best way banking your bucks by looking at what colleges and universities are current partnership with Straighterline https://www.straighterline.com/colleges/ . You need to look at the college/university program that you want to attend. Looking at what its curriculum for the degree and plan toward that major for transferring.

For example, I want my kids to graduate from University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science at age 14 and continue their way to medical school. They definitely need to skip high school, and in order to get there I need to training them to to take CLEP and AP Exams to transferable and acceptable by the University of Florida's cirriculum https://catalog.ufl.edu/UGRD/colleges-schools/UGAGL/MCB_BS/. The School do not accept credits from Straigtherline.com, Study.Com, Saylor Foundation, and etc.

Before you plan this route, you need to aim for 1 program at the school you want...and a backup ones.
