I was asked today if I knew of anyone still doing postal mail correspondence courses, and honestly, I don't. I wondered if anyone here (maybe Dr. Bear?) had a suggestion? Also, if Dr. Bear is reading this, which of your books can I suggest they read to help them with this?
I believe that the University of London still uses that basic model. https://london.ac.uk/ways-study/distance-learning
A lasting effect of Katrina, I think. Edit: Ya made me look. All college credit courses offered by LSU Continuing Education are now delivered online through the Online Distance Learning (ODL) program. Most courses previously offered through Independent & Distance Learning (IDL) are now available in ODL, and many others are in development. That should be the story. Unless there's another story.

I think most people should avoid these unless very special circumstances make them necessary. One important thing to keep in mind is correspondence courses do not qualify for financial aid.
I didn't know that!! I really don't know the back-story about why this person specifically wants paper vs computer, it may have something to do with their disability, they may not own a computer or know how to type, they may not subscribe to an internet service, or it may even be a misunderstanding about what online means- but I am VERY thankful for these links and I will pass them along. Thank you!
