I blame the students for not doing their research. $30, 600 for an NCU Ed.D.? When was it ever that affordable? I guess it was when the plaintiff enrolled in 2010 - then I had no knowledge of NCU so I can't dispute the cost. I guess the plaintiff didn't bother to check NCU's Ed.D. gainful employment disclosure to get an idea of the completion time for the degree. If all she did was listened to an NCU sales representative and not actually seen anything in black and white, then she is to be blamed IMO.

In 2007, Professor George Gollin produced a 21-page report entitled, "American University of Hawaii, Southern California University for Professional Studies, and Northcentral University." Fascinating reading. I wonder if he has made it public, or put it on one of his websites?

Hecht left NCU in 2008 and 10 years later in 2018 in an unrelated allegation, Hecht he is being sued in civil court for sexual harassment. In 2018, it appears that the National University System (non-profit) is acquiring NCU (for-profit). If the acquisition goes through, then NCU will transition into a non-profit institution:

As a graduate of NCU, with a Ph.D. in Education: Technology Management, all I can say is that overall, my experience was good. It did take me 5.5 years to complete it but the cost, all tallied, was about $26K for me. When I started in 2005, the tuition was much lower than now, and they had a promotion that if you prepaid your tuition, you could lock in the rate, and get a 10% discount overall, so that is what I did. I liked their one-on-one model and the flexibility. I worked for another, more-well-known than NCU, for-profit at the time and could have enrolled in their doctorate program for 1/3 off tuition but it was still less expensive for me to go with NCU, and when I researched how their model worked, I knew NCU was a better fit for me. I'm in touch with many other satisfied doctoral graduates of NCU.
