    U.S. Community Colleges, by State

How I obtained my 1st FT teaching position...

I used the UT listing of US Community Colleges, and went to the employment web page of every US Community College. I was hired by Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, a rural tribal college.

Small rural colleges often have vacancies. If you are looking to get your foot in the door, small rural colleges are an essential part of the search.

    Good luck!

Shay agrees with you 100% Dr. Ambrose. I've come to the realization that nothing much in the way of opportunities exist in Brevard County, Florida, if one does not have any kind of a technical degree. Sad, because I love it here. So...the search for employment elsewhere, begins. I thank you for your humble opinions.

Here is one I have considered - Assistant Professor of Management - Job - Eckerd College Jobs
It is a great school in South St Pete on the water.

Eckerd College is a great school and sits on Tampa Bay, near the Sunshine Skyway bridge. I will graduate from there in 2013 with a BA. It is a four-year, liberal arts school that does not embrace distance or online learning.

I live pretty close to that school. I used to live on Pinellas Point Drive so I was about 5 minutes from there.

Just wanted to let you know, that after communicating with UF, I think I'll explore other online MBA program options. I'm really trying to avoid 24 months of school and looks as if I'm going to have to take prerequsite courses because I do not have an undergrad degree in business. I admit that I haven't taken many of the courses listed, however, I have taken Quantitative Research [as an example] and a large component of that course was hardcore Statistics. I've also taken Business Research at the doctoral level but when questioned, UF says those courses would not absolve me from having to take their required prerequisites. In any event, I've researched schools to the point of exhaustion. I have a list of schools both in and out of Florida that I'm looking at. If I find one that begins relatively soon, I'm going to take a much closer look at it than I might take of the others.

I haven't heard about Eckerd College until recently, but looks as if its a little college with a great reputation. Thanks for chiming in and congrats on your accomplishments. Hats off to you!

USF has a cool model for the pre-reqs for non-business majors - Business Foundations - Graduate Certificates - University College - University of South Florida

The older version of the website showed the course schedule and it was offered online (maybe a hybrid) and you could complete it all in 4 months or so. Might be worth exploring.

Dr. Orner: Good thing I came back to check or I'd miss this post. Thanks for the tip. I'll apply, immediately. I hope I'm not too late, Oye! At this point, I've pretty much come to terms with the reality that I am not going to find anything in Brevard County, unless I'm in engineering or have some type of manufacturing background. That's a difficult pill to swallow because I love it here. My 16 year old daughter was just accepted and is starting Eastern Florida State and second daughter is about to attend UCF. They're both interested in the school's Pre-Med program. I'd hope I could be nearby, at least until they finish the feeder program at the local school but I don't see how I can make that happen. I'm not sad, this new reality just takes my life on a course different than I expected or had planned. On the brighter side, relocating gives me the opportunity to fight my ex from another side of Florida and I am such a great and sassy fighter on the telephone and in emails [LOL].

I looked it up. I think, for whatever reason, they changed the delivery format to face-to-face only sessions offered at the Tampa campus. See, this is why I never play the lottery. My luck is terrible! No, not really. Just kidding!

I NEVER understand why 'State' schools in the same state don't follow the same general format when it comes to courses, admission requirements and other such offerings. Aarrgghh!

Eastern Florida State College is the new name for Brevard Community College. Eastern State College is a state college in the Florida College System on Florida's Space Coast, in Brevard. Campuses are in the cities of Cocoa, Melbourne and Palm Bay.
