Hi! I haven't been here in a dog's age! Hope all of you are well. And, UAO is also doing very well. Gaius, I sent you a PM.

    Hi Dr. Mahfood,

Finally touching base here again. Great site! HACS is doing awesome things thanks to you and all of its collaborators.

I wanted to discuss with you the "Doctorate in Humanities." As you know - and it is mentioned on the HACS site - the program is a dissertation-only, research doctorate . The Spaniards may not know that the "Doctor in Humanities" is for the most part understood as an honorary degree here in the States. I think they really mean PhD, and a degree evaluation service here in the USA will conclude the same because of the work involved in obtaining this degree.

A PhD - a Doctorate in Philosophy (in philosophy) - would be redundant in Spanish as it is in English (Doctor en Filosofia, en filosofia). So the Spaniards shorten the name of the degree to "Doctor en humanidades," - PhD in Humanities. I am going to double check with Dr. Enrique on this.

Why is this important? I think a prospective student here in the USA would question the degree title "Doctorate in Humanities" or "Doctor in Humanities" since it is understood as an honorary degree here or maybe as a professional doctorate, not the research degree that it is.

Hey Boethius - I sprinted through that school site and didn't see any mention of doctoral degrees. In fact, I found very little information at all, at least in the English language portion of the site. Any help?

    Hi Kizmet - hey there!

    Will do: Here it is:

Bienvenidos a CEINDO - CEU Escuela Internacional de Doctorado

The doctoral programs are administered through the CEU consortium of three universities:

    Universidad Cardenal Herrera – Valencia
    Universidad San Pablo - Madrid
    Universitat Abat Oliba – Barcelona

Wikipedia has a brief description about each of these universities so you can judge their validity and prestige, respectively:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEU_Cardinal_Herrera_University
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEU_San_Pablo_University
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abat_Oliba_CEU_University

An enrolled doctoral student will have access to professors from all three universities depending on their research interest.

CEU is Centro de Estudios Universitarios or Center of University Studies

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centro_de_Estudios_Universitarios

My program is “Humanidades para el Mundo Contemporáneo” (Humanities for the Contemporary World), and my line of research is philosophy.

    Hope that helps.
