Thank you for this, Comrade French.

The first says nothing about awarding degrees. And presumably Comrade Doctor Hoyer did not send you the supplementary agreement that would specify testing procedures and set an "agreed upon" limit to the number of students.

The second is your basic business license.

Marina Constantinovna* still has family in St. Petersburg. I'm going to try to get one of them to visit the, um, campus. What do you think it will look like?

    My Dear Comrade

    Dear Comrade Bearovski,

I do fear for your life in making such serious comments on the verity of the translated documents, and to have a family memebr visit the camp arse - it may endanger their lives. If they take a camera they should conceal it....

An associate of mine was recently in Moscow presenting a paper. I asked him to question the senior academics he met about IUFS -not one had ever heard of it.

    Cheers,

    Yeah but ...

...yeah but he was in Mozz Cow and this famous, important large university is in Saint Peter Zberg - and how would he be able to ask questions and understand them if they all torked Russian? ...or he was probably pissed - your mate you say?

This is a very important higher education institution ... read their web site. It is the Russian version of the University of London and runs their courses and also medical degrees for the university of Dundee - read their web site :)

  6. To all readers;
Sorry about the bold fonts in my last post (reply to Bill Dayson).
I'm not sure how that happened. No intention on my part.
    Cheers,

Earon -" I asked him to produce the document from the attache. He refused, with the backing of some here, citing confidentiality. Yet he cites the source as credible. Could he not produce the document and remove the confidential material? There is yet no proof that the attache ever said what he said. I have confirmed that this person mentioned by Ade works for ....."

Timmy - Earon, You are tired and confused, give it up and get some Rest. Document, what document? Go back and read my original post again and again. In fact read all my postings again
For at least 10 times each, and tell me where I told you or anyone else that I have any document. I posted the response that I got from a legitimate official of the Government of Malawi and yes I deleted the portion that I considered personal to me. That should not be too hectic for a proud alumnus of CCWU TO UNDERSTAND or should it? You will only make sense if the attaché denied ever talking to me. By the way you're telling Bill that CPU has nothing to do with CCWU,? Well I supposed you should have nothing to do with CCWU since your degrees are from CPU. Well then, why are you going mad selling CCWU Malawi accreditation to us? What then is the business of CPU alumni group in the affairs of CCWU? May be you work for less Carr, May be you are de facto the alumni Group.

Well good luck in your search for documents. May be they are in Malawi, he he he he ....

Timmy Ade laughing and making faces at his super ex friend-Earon:rolleyes:

  8. I am not selling anything. I am simply responding to a series of posts that began with a post by yourself last week, which implied some less than wonderful things about CCWU. The discussion has not yet stopped and I am contributing, as are others. Surely there can be other - diverse - points of view in this forum other than yours and those who agree with you.

I think the bashing of Malawi is disgusting if not sickening. If someone were to bash Germany or Canada on this forum, people would become enraged (with good reason).

Even if CCWU obtains a UNESCO listing, I don't think you will be changing many minds. Timmy, why do you continue to behave in such an immature fashion?

How is it "bashing" to point out facts about a country? If I posted that Canada* has a life expectancy of over 79 years, an AIDS rate of 0.3%, and a literacy rate of 97%, would that be "bashing"? Of course not, since those are facts about the country.

That some people don't like the hard truth about Malawi doesn't make it "bashing".

James Lyons, may be you ought to get your facts straight before you start a Sympathizers club for the Embattled Earon and CCWU. Nobody is bashing Malawi, but the people that drew the Country’s name into LEASE OR BUY ACCREDITATION deals. Now James, why do you thrive in so much ignorance?

I don't think that Malawi's poverty is the main issue. In fact, given that poverty and their ambitious plans to increase educational opportunities for their people, bringing in some outside DL providers might make sense.

(Of course, if their people lack computers and internet service, that would seem to mean correspondence courses, except if they lack mail service...)

Where the poverty issue is relevant is if it means that the country's infrastructure is so rudimentary that it doesn't even have an effective higher education QA system. Given that there are only two domestic universities, I'd guess that they don't.

Which once again raises the question of what this "accreditation" really means. Does it mean that Malawi subjected CCWU to the same kind of process that the Northwestern Association would have applied to a Wyoming school?

(If there was a site-visit, all the way from Malawi, how in the world did the Africans manage to find the site that they visited? It's apparently not the "physical address"...)

Malawi doesn't seem to use the word 'accredit' in the same way that the word is used in the US. They talk about things like 'accrediting' school teachers. Which means something like giving them the necessary approvals to teach school. So is this 'accredition' of CCWU's really just an approval for CCWU to offer DL courses to Malawians?

Facts are fine and you did post a CIA link. But then you prefaced it by saying: "I've done a bit of research on Malawi, and, to put it bluntly, it's a fourth-world shithole."

That of course is your right to do and others have the right to take issue with it. But why am I bothering arguing here, when you as the moderator allow someone like Timmy to violate the TOS rules by giving people the finger?

Timmy- He also allowed you calling me immature, anyway my apologies for giving you the fingers. Now lets move on.

Sir Timmy Ade making peace with James Lyons.

  16. "Embattled Earon"? And I thought this was a civil exchange of information pertaining to and with the inclusion of rendered documents (at least once) to back up what one asserts publicly to be fact (well, rendered documents on my part at least). I didn't know there was a battle going on. I certainly didn't think that me waging in vigorous discussion with several degree.com cyber-homeys and backing up what I assert to be fact by producing relevant documents was a battle. I simply understood it to be a conversation with me taking a less dominant view - one might say privileging 'diversity of ideas and voices' as both instrumental and terminal values in what sometimes appears to be a groupthink bound culture within a cyber-environment. Embattled? Battle? Not me, man...I'm a peacenik...from way back.

  17. I distinctly remember that the CCWU website (www.ccwu.edu) had a list of the names of the Board of Trustees, including Malawi's High Commissioner in Canada, Macalpine Bywell Mlotha.

My recollection is consistent with the first post in this thread: Columbia Commonwealth moves.

But now the page seems to be empty. Does anyone know where I can find this list?

Malawi connection started. So go figure........, May be Bruce can

shed some light about this reagarding any latest "info" from DC.

I find this a perfectly ridiculous discussion. Before commenting, I looked up demographic information on Malawi. Malawi is a small, troubled, financially strapped nation with one-third the population of California. My question is this: how can this forum even argue the credibility of Malawi "accreditation" while most members, at the same time, would completely discount the "state approval" process in California? Personally, I think I would trust the State of California rather than Republic of Malawi when it comes to judging the attributes of an educational entity. The discussion actually reenforces my sense that this forum considers accreditation, no matter how facetious the process in individual cases, to be inherently superior and preferred to all other forms of assessment.

    Timmy –
    Jack,
Your anger is misplaced; if you’ve endeavored to research the genesis of the thread you would have seen that most members of the forum (at least those who contributed) felt that the whole Malawi connection is a Joke. We talked about it to warn the public of its validity and or lack-of. I hope you appreciate the fact that a school is using it as a marketing gimmick.
