Here's a twist: degrees aren't portable, skills are portable. Bookkeeping, sales, etc. are skill sets, not degrees. Develop the skills and they'll stay with you wherever you are.

Portable degree, great benefits, work everywhere you look, and awesome pay. I just asked an nurse (ASN) friend of mine with 15 years on the job working the ER, she said she makes $70 per hour; I was shocked that she made THAT much with an ASN. (Keep in mind I also live in Cali where the cost of living is high as hell)

That is very true but often a degree is what gives you those skills in the first place.

Id believe it! I have a friend who is currently in nursing school and she said its easy to make great money in nursing. She also plans to do the travel nurse thing and says you can make great money. Just not sure its something I could do, learning anatomy and things just do not interest me. Now I could be on the business side in health care but there are other ways besides nursing to do that.

Is it possible for you to get a job with the company your husband works for or possibly even your husband? I could see this as a great solution to having to move around all the time if you don't mind spending a lot of time together.

Possible yes but he is the field manager for his company so I would have to work under him and well it just doesn't work! We tried that for about 3 months and I did some data processing for his company. I have considered just going to work out in the field before as the contractors that work for them make excellent money, but its just not my cup of tea. It would be fine for awhile I guess but not long term.

    Left field...

Depending on your son's age the moving around once a year will definitely have an impact. As he gets older the greater the impact. To minimize that I have a suggestion right out of left field...

    How about homeschooling your son?

This has been talked about within our family actually! Having said that though if he is affected by the moving I think it will be much more than moving schools. Some kids are actually okay with it and some are not. Obviously there has to be a way to make it work as many military families have to deal with moving as well. I wish I had a crystal ball sometimes :)
