I'm looking for at least 18 Semester Hours of graduate mathematics courses so I may teach math at a community college. I'm currently a high school math teacher with a B.S. Mathematics and I'm almost done with an MAT Mathematics. Thank you for any assistance/advice you have to offer.
What is an M.A.T.? If you had a statistics course in your MBA then maybe you are looking for 15 units. With your qualifications I would suggest you talk to the CC(s) that you are interested in and ask them what additional credits you would need to teach there. FYI here are the requirements to teach Math in a California CC: Master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in statistics, physics, or mathematics education OR The equivalent
MAT is a Master of Arts in Teaching. In this case it's a specialty in teaching Math. Right G? Were I in your situation I'd first look to the Australian universities. USQ, Melbourne, CSU and New England are the usual suspects in this case. There are a few US Bachelors level programsin the distance learning mode but Grad courses? There are a couple of other MAT programs but they're not going to offer you anything other than what you've got right now. If you think your program will accept non-US credits then I think that's your best bet at this point. I hope I'm wrong and if I am I hope someone pops up and tells me so because I'd like to know.
Here is a place that offers graduate math courses for teachers: http://www.onlinemathcourses.org/index.htm
Almost forgot, you can also look at http://www.learner.org/resources/browse.html . They have a lot of online courses for teachers that are eligible for graduate credit from Colorado State University. The price is cheap too.
