Do You Have Any Content-Article Ideas?

  1. Re: Annon.

This is perhaps even a greater problem in traditional contact institutions where students work together (even when asked not to) and in some cases submit work from other students in previous years. A student in one of my classes as an undergraduate was rusticated when the instructor noticed tiny and nearly imperceptible red tick marks on the drawings that a student submitted, and determined that these were from a previous grader.

    FYI

I have recently been introduced to the School for New Learning at DePaul University. I have applied to begin this program and will let you know how it goes. I am very excited about this program though, as it is a very reputable business school (ranked 72 in the US, by US News), the tuition is less than Capella and Phoenix and it is RA.

I have been looking for ideas of schools to apply to and this was never mentioned, for whatever reason...I just thought it would be a good option to put out there for anyone else that might be interested.

    The website is snlonline.net

An area for CLEP, DANTES, ECE, Etc.

How about an area/forum that we can post helpful suggestions or experiences on various "credit by exams".

    Idea

    Greetings,

I like the idea of developing forums/sections/pages (whatever one may call them) that would be devoted to DL institutions that are in other parts of the world. This forum tends to focus on English-speaking world institutions (for obvious reasons, of course). But, it would be good, as some one suggested earlier, to have page or section editors dealing with different parts of the world. Say, an Latin America page/editor, and an Eastern European page/editor, and a Middle East page/editor, etc.

    Well, my two cents.

But, I have to say, there are a lot of good ideas in this thread.

    More empirical evidence!

Too many people 'opine' on this network without providing empirical evidence to justify their positions, especially when it comes to denouncing 'unaccredited/non-RA' institutions. How much factual evidence do they have about SPECIFIC institutions? It is no use putting all non-RA institutions together! There are classes of 'degress' of respectability even among the non-RA institutions. People here write about RA institutions as if these places are 'the best thing since sliced bread'! I've been less than impressed with the standards I've seen at USA RA institutions I've been involved with (SACS at that!). BUu then I've been perhaps looking at them from a UK perspective!!!!!! No, really, the last comment aside (all of which I still maintain), I am not impressed with the RA system nor the QAA/HEFCE system in the UK. We are 'steralising' education and learning and in so doing we are 'paralysing' the systems!

    Time will tell!

    paper buying off the net?

I guess one of the areas that concerns me is buying papers for courses off the internet. It is taking the short cut in educating oneself.
My son is an undergrad. He says it is pretty widespread.
    All the best!

A brief article on gmohdez story, if he was willing, and Lawrie does not snap it up first, would go a long way to dispelling the stories that the unaccredited route is the fastest and cheapest.

Personally, I think that this would be a most useful article (i.e. an in-depth comparison of these three institutions). I have seen so many new arrivals to this forum who wish to know which of the "big three" they could consider. Being able to refer them to an article, rather than starting a new thread of the same comments as last month's inquiry would make this forum more user friendly.

Too often, some "senior" members get impatient with newbies who all seem to ask the same questions. This should signal the need for an "authoritative" article or FAQ to address these redundant inquiries.

    sounds good

I like the idea of a separate category for TESC, COSC and Ex.
Since MIGS is pretty dead, it could replace it.
    All the best!

    TESC

Good Morning, I would be glad to comment or suggest options for TESC students. Although there are some problems at the college it is still an RA school with acceptance. MY husband did not find the portfolio route the same as published so I'll be glad to share. Have a good Saturday and a great week. Hille

Indeed. In the interim, consider referring them to the B3 article "Which College", already available on this board and at http://www.geocities.com/ba_in_4_weeks/Whichcol.html , http://www.geocities.com/ba_in_4_weeks/enrollment.html and to the accompanying Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), again, available on this board and at also available at http://www.geocities.com/ba_in_4_weeks/FAQs.html . The web site has the added advantage of providing comprehensive access to online B3 (COSC, Excelsior, TESC) resources.

Can't say I can recall to many examples of this. I respect of germane and humane responses to question on the Big Three, inquirers to this board seem to have enjoyed exemplary service.

I agree with Lawrie, I don't think there is any newbie-bias unless the newbie appears to be shilling for a degree mill, in which case they deserve what they get.

Indeed, I think the most-used phrase in responding to a newbie here is a variation of "welcome to the board".

Okay, so what about a link to Mr. Miller's site?...........Yes?
Even though it doesn't really change my plan, it would be VERY useful to most undergrad's who visit this site.

If no link, why not? Seriously.

    Online program rankings

    Chip,

Have you guys ever considered posting a ranking of the best online programs? Certainly, the senior members and administrators of this board could come up with an outstanding list of the best online mba programs, etc. I know you could do better than USN&WR did! Such a list could steer potential students towards the schools that are offering the best programs.

    Thanks,

    Reed Liggin

I would be very interested in one of the prior suggestions. It would be very useful to have an online "history" of a number of the confusing degrees that can be mixed up with others (like my earlier post M.A. in education vs. Ed.S.).

    Why is this still posted...?
