I've been looking for a program that matches my education/career goals for a time now. I continue to search but becoming weary doing so. Things have happened in my life that placed me on a different career path that I initially intended. At the onset, I wanted to enroll in a PhD program where I could transfer my credits and essentially shave years of the time it would normally take to complete it. I settled on Nova and that failed. The only thing I got out of Nova was a 4.0 gpa and yes - a hefty student loan that I'll have to repay. I enrolled at CSU where I am now, chugging along. The program though, I found out later is better suited for Law Enforcement professionals. I have no desire to go into Law Enforcement at all. Now, at this point, I need to take drastic measures. I have decided to: remain at CSU and transfer into the PhD in Professional and Applied Ethics. However, if I am not accepted, I will withdraw from the Public Policy program and try to find something else. My problem is, that I do not want to wait and sit idle while an entire school term passes by. So, I have decided to try to find a masters degree in Management or Human Resource Management or something in that portfolio that I can enroll in right away, as I wait for acceptance into the PhD program at CSU. I am not worried that I won't be able to complete both programs concurrently because I can. I have done it before and remember, I am a stay at home mom. I want to take advantage of this free time and study, study, study.

Anyway, this new plan brings about this question:

While I continue to look, are there any Masters Degree programs preferrably in Management, Human Resources, Leadership, MBA and so on and so forth (and I say MBA with tongue in cheek since I hate accounting or anything even remotely related to math) that I can begin at any time during the year? The trick is that the masters program needs to be US based and either RA or Nationally accredited. Any ideas? I checked out Thomas Edison, RIT, Charter Oak, Empire State and I am in the process of checking out a few other institutions. Most of them are either on a quarter or semester enrollment basis. If anyone know of a program at the Masters level where I can enroll and begin classes right away, please let me know. I'll hold off on looking for a PhD and wait for CSU. The graduate study coordinator suggested that CSU could take awhile to formally accept me since my application has to go before a graduate committee and then back to admissions. She suggested I take courses at CSU, however, I prefer not to do that at this time.

Thanks for listening and any suggestions you might have.

    Hi,

Check out Northcentral University (NCU). NCU is RA and classes begin every month. You can pursue a 36-credit MBA online (and a PhD 100% online if you so desire). Specializations within the MBA include HR, and Management. You could probably finish up this program in a little over a year. The best part is that NCU only requires one accounting course for the MBA (Financial and Managerial Accounting).

Aspen University (DETC accredited), also offers a 36-credit online MBA. If you choose the "online independent" (as opposed to "online interactive") course delivery option, you may start your courses at any time.

    Good luck!

    My two former employers.

    1. Keiser University has an MBA now, and while I'm always a bit reluctant to recommend them, they are regionally accredited and do have the convenience of twelve four-week terms per year. (You take one course at a time with them.) I'm not sure if their MBA is online yet, but you could contact them and ask. And yes, they're expensive. http://online.keisercollege.edu

    2. Southeastern University in Washington, D.C. has four quadmesters per year, and the next one will start in less than three months. They have MBA specializations in a variety of fields. http://www.seu.edu

    Good luck,

I think that St. Joseph's College of Maine offers flexible start dates, I think they've done away with the residency requirement, and I think the math requirements are quite light.

Now I realize that that's a lot of I thinks, but might be worth checking out.

(I miss Gregg, he could've done that without all the I thinks).

Just thinking about it I think American Military University / American Public University offer just about monthly start dates and have a MA in Management and an MBA. And an MPA for that matter.

    Try Regis MBA-Online

They have a 36 credit hour MBA degree that offers a Spring II commencement date of March 1st week. Also GMAT is not a compulsory requirement and can be substituted with a couple of essays. They dont have accountancy for their MBA program but economics is one of the papers. Still not too much to do with Math.

    - Troy University offers a masters of science in human resources and a master of science in management. You may enroll in a course every two months.

    - Amberton University offers a MBA in Strategic Leadership. The cost is only
$600 per course. However, the university has four term semesters.

    - Chadron State College offers an Accelerated MBA. Cost per tuition is
$522.00 per course. The program does require you to complete a course
    accounting and finance.

That is a good option novemberdude. APUS does accept DETC courses and will transfer a
maximum of 15 credits, not excluding course similarity.

Good luck with your masters LadyExecutive. You'll do well.

** I would like APUS to create a Masters of Science/Arts in Human Resources Management. I'd enroll in a heartbeat.

You are all so wonderful. Thank you so much for taking time to help me through this. I have been so frustrated. I am doing well at CSU and the folks there are really nice, so if anyone is interested in a PhD in Public Policy from a Law Enforcement perspective, I'd fully recommend them.

    Hugs,

Fort Hays State University offers an MBA in Leadership... I am majoring in Organizational Leadership and am impressed with their courses - nothing gimme - I am working my hiny off, alongside working full-time and being a full-time dad!

Here's a program in your hometown that meets some of your requirements:

Master of NonProfit Management - University of Central Florida.

The Master of Nonprofit Management program consists of nine core courses (33 credit-hours), all of which are available online.

UCF is a great school. My little brother takes B&M classes there - the notion of online learning frightens him. Unfortunately, you'll probably wait until summer session to start.

Tuition for this program is reasonable for non-residents.

Park University might be another option. I think they run 4 or 5 terms per year.

    Lady Executive:

I am with you on 2 things...........I love learning about Leadership, etc. and am not very strong in numbers. However, you may not agree with my theory that being a human oriented manager is a better career than a numbers oriented analyst....but if you are like me in that, read on.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine is a distance based MBA program that offers two modes of learning.

One is a 10 week interactive online format that takes exactly 10 full weeks, but you may take up to 3 classes at a time.

The other is a 16 week self paced independant study where you work with a faculty member 1 on 1. You can finish faster than 16 weeks and begin at the next term. 5 terms a year (I think, it may be more though). Again you can take up to 3 classes at a time.

    Very doable.

14 classes later, you have a RA MBA.

Although given the range of RA options I'm not sure that I would really consider NA you might want to give a quick look to Ashworth College.

They offer a Master of Marketing, a Master of Human Resource Management, a MBA, a Master of Management and you can start the day you enroll, so it really meets your general requirements.

Downside is that the cost has jumped and it's only NA.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your virtual shoulders and allowing me to lean on them. I feel so much better and for the first time in a long time, I can see my way clear. My life has to make sense and when it is all fuddled up - I get confused. I am a long time planner, with goals and it frustrates me when plans A, B, and C falls through and there is no plan D.

Anyway, I've settled on Keller and Argosy. Both institutions begin at the same time - March 1st. Keller promises that I can shave a couple classes of my transcript. Argrosy (ONLINE) is out of Sarasota, Florida. Residentials are at a time when I can take my daughters with me. This would be ideal. I am fearful of the course content, and unless I was just seeing what I wanted to see - it does not appear to have much of an accounting/math/numbers (sheesh!!!!!!!!) requirement. I have my fingers, toes, eye lashes, and could stand to borrow some of your fingers, toes and eye lashes to cross as well. I panic when I see anything having to do with numbers as a course content requirement. Anyway, I've signed up for the DBA. (Lord, what am I thinking?) with Argosy and the Masters in Human Resource Management with Keller. I'll take both programs concurrently. So, if you see a lady running around naked, with balled head, and the little hair that she has on the back of her head being white (not gray) have a heart and stop me and take me to the luny bin because I can see where I am going to go nuts. But, I never ever back down from a challenge!

    Hugs, Hugs, Hugs....

Congrats on your decision(s)! I commend you on actually making a choice. Sometimes, that is the hardest step (I know it has been for me!).

May I ask why you decided to pursue to graduate degree programs concurrently though? Just curious! I am having difficulty handling just one undergrad degree!

    Good luck!

Maybe cus she hinted she can spare a lot of time:)

And when you've got time to spare, DL is the best thing that keeps a person occupied. A couple of courses at the same go might not be impossible for a person who's got a 24 hour day all for herself :)

You are so right. When a person is accustomed to full-time study it can become addictive. I am one of those people who have to be busy constantly. I have to always have something to work forward to. Upward mobility is more than just a bussword for me!

With that said, a very dear friend of mine suggested that I just work on my PhD since a PhD in Management would pull rank over a Masters in Management any time and that a Masters would be overkill.

Since I value his judgment, I'm going for the PhD at Argrosy.

You guys are great! Seriously. Make no mistake about that.
