    Hi,

I am currently enrolled in the online BS in Psychology degree program offered through Drexel University. While I am enjoying my experience at Drexel, I have an issue with their Quarter credit system. The program requires 180 quarter credits in total. If I continue to take two courses per term at four terms per year, it will take me 5.7 years to finish by Bachelor's! When I began at Drexel last Fall, I thought I would be able to swing three courses per term. Frankly, that just isn't going to happen. The school is no joke and while I appreciate the rigor, I just cannot wait almost 6 years to graduate with my undergrad.

Therefore, my plan is to finish up my current term at Drexel (which ends in March) and then transfer to another school. With that said, I am considering switching majors as well. While I enjoy Psychology as a subject, I am more interested in Anthropology. I am aware of only two online options (must be an RA school) to complete a BA in Anthropology - TESC and Athabasca University. Since TESC does not offer a full course load in Anthropology, I would be completing the Anthro courses at Athabasca regardless of which school I enroll in.

So, my question is - are there any other RA schools out there that offer a 100% online BA in Anthropology? If there are, please let me know!

    Thanks,
    Tom

Thanks. I'm looking for a school that offers an online BA in Anthropology, not Social Sciences or Liberal Arts. I'm not sure if such a school exists (other than TESC and Athabasca U.).

I'm aware of the U of Wales - Lampeter program. I seriously considered it, but decided to pass based on the length (six years part-time) of the program.

BTW, this kind of looks like me after a hard night of studying (this pic is priceless on so many levels).

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming. I appreciate it!

    - Tom

I hear you relative to the quarter system; that's how I did my MBA in the mid-80's. With the quarter system, you end up taking more subjects and and doing more work, as instructors feel compelled to use the entire textbook despite the abbreviated term.

I'm thinking you might be interested in checking out Park University's online degree completion BS in Social Psychology; it my be right up your alley in terms of interest and motivation.

    Lawchik,

Can you share some of your experiences regarding studying Anthropology at Athabasca? How long have you been pursuing the program? Are you going for a three or four year BA? How are the Anthro classes presented (online, paper, etc.)? Did you transfer in any credits from other institutions?

Thanks to everyone else that has posted suggestions on this thread. Keep 'em coming!

    Thanks,
    Tom

    I second WSU...

Although I graduated from the on campus program. I did take about 5 courses from the distance learning program. Great customer service, and excellent faculty support. I took 2 history courses, 2 psychology courses, and a geology lab course (interesting to say the least!)

The degree offered there is a B.A. Social Sciences. On my transcript it does show a major of Psychology however. Good luck in your search!

Hi Tom - Since you seem willing to go outside of the USA for such a degree, perhaps you would consider the Bachelors degree program in Anthropology offered at Deakin University in Australia. (The X stands for "external" which is their term for a distance learning degree. Also, their use of the term "course" is different than in the USA. In Australia it refers to the entire degree program).
