Ashworth College >> then to a RA institution

I was reading online that over 300 regionally accredited institutions will accept an associates degree from Ashworth, is this true, and is there a way I can find out which those are?
http://teachers.net/mentors/higher_education/topic1780/9.01.06.12.03.05.html ( I tried to post on this website to ask ,but it will not let me )

Can anyone who has received an associates from Ashworth confirm this?? Was your degree accepted to a RA institution?
Does anyone know why Ashworth does not offer bachelor degrees?
I noticed they have quite a few master degrees, at very affordable prices!!

    Thanks.

There is a list that has been floating around these DL forums for a few years now, but I did some checking and found many of the entries to be incorrect or out-of-date. The list included the University of Oklahoma, for example. However, OU does not accept nationally-accredited coursework or degrees as prerequisites to any of their programs.

The RA schools I know for a fact will accept Ashworth credits are Liberty University, Bellevue University, Western Governors University, American Military University/American Public University and Peru State.

    Hello,
I e-mailed Peru State and I am waiting for their reply. Do you have any idea where I could find this list? I want to be sure before I enroll in Ashworth.
I e-mailed Ashworth as well, they should have the list handy.

All the major RA for profit universities with the exception of DeVry will accept NA transfer credits.

If I were you I would consider Penn Foster (www.pennfostercollege.edu) instead of Ashworth. Both schools are about the same price, both include text books in their tuition costs, and both are accredited by the DETC. The differance is that 146 Penn Foster classes have been evaluated by ACE (American Council on Education www.acenet.edu) and will transfer to MANY more RA universities, MUCH more easily that the DETC accreditation by itself.

ACE publishes a list (http://www.acenet.edu/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Learners&Template=/CM/HTMLDisplay.cfm&ContentID=15935) of the RA universities that accept ACE evaluated credit...the list is EXTENSIVE.

You can also see the complete list of ACE evaluated Penn Foster courses here: https://www.acenet.edu/nationalguide/results/index.cfm?page=1 You will find that nearly all courses in the Business related degrees have been evaluated for transfer.

Penn Foster course exams are online and unproctored. There is a one final exam per semester that covers all courses taken in the semester. This exam is proctored but open book/open notes/untimed. Just about anyone that is not a family member can be your proctor (clergy, librarian, your boss at work, a teacher, etc.).

    Good luck.

You're correct, Penn Foster does not offer a Psych degree. That said, if you are looking to transfer the Associate degree into a BA program anyway, why not get your general ed and elective credits out of the way for cheap with Penn Foster? You're going to transfer elsewhere for the major anyway. I don't have anything against Ashworth, but you will have 10 fold the transfer options with ACE evaluated courses. Better safe than sorry...

Everything Pug said except one thing: the semester-end final exam IS timed, although it is open-book. The semester-end final is a total of 5 to 6 hours long. Each course has a one-hour final exam. So, if you had 6 courses during the semester, you would have 6 final exams to be completed in one day, and you would be given one hour to complete each one.

I am nearly finished with my first semester, and I have to submit a name for my proctor. The instructions for the final exam were recently mailed to me.

I had no idea about ACE, but i already enrolled with Ashworth, i'm very happy Peru & CCU have no problem accepting this associates degree. It's too bad they dont offer bachelor or master degrees.

    Thanks all ;)

    Confirmation

I can confirm that Western Governors University will accept an Ashworth College AS degree to waive all lower division bachelors requirements.

NorthCentral University (regionally accredited) also accepts up to 90 Ashworth credits.

From the NCU website: "NCU will accept a maximum of 90 semester credits of college coursework for graduates of Ashworth College in transfer toward NCU’s 120-credit bachelor’s degrees for course work completed at Ashworth College with a grade of “C” or better. All associate degrees earned at Ashworth College, including Associate of Applied Science degrees, transfer to NCU as a block, with credits accepted and applied toward the designated degree. Ashworth College graduates will not have to repeat lower-division requirements."

    http://www.ncu.edu/lp.asp?niche_id=1498

Ashford University (regionally accredited), too, accepts Ashworth credits.

I've also heard that the acceptance number for Ashworth is up to 900, but I'm searching for full confirmation on that number.

I would hope so. They are both accredited by DETC.

Bellevue will also accept an Ashworth AS to meet all General Ed requirements.

why is it that everytime i try to contact a RA school if they accept Ashworth credits I get no response..

someone said NCU takes the credits but I did not receive any reply from them.

Probably because when universities hire people to answer the telephones, they put as their highest priority hiring someone stupid enough to work for sub-poverty level wages when they should be focusing on paying wages high enough to buy the services of people smart enough to know what the hell they're talking about.

    Baker college

I got my Associates from Ashworth (in Computer Information Management) and it transferred to Baker College without a problem.

I have since completed my Bachelors from Baker and am considering registering for their MBA program.

I have an A.S. in Psychology from Ashworth, and transferred to the United States Sports Academy's Bachelor degree program (SACS RA) with no problem.
