It's a good idea, but there are a few reasons why I haven't done this.

    1. On the technical side, the website backend (administration) isn't really setup for multiple moderators. If other people were to be approving/modifying things I would also want more auditing and history logged so it was clear who was doing what.

    2. Consistancy could also be a factor, although I'm sure others could be trained to evaluate and make similar judgements about submissions.

    3. Perhaps not the best reason, but in the short-term it's just seems easier for me to do it all myself.

It's still early days for the website and I continue to learn what works and what doesn't. Frankly, I'm not sure what the best way to run the website is, but I'm relatively happy with how things have been going.

So, for now at least, I think the best approach is for me to continue moderating the submissions on my own. It may be slightly annoying to users of the website to have to wait a few weeks before their submissions are approved, but in the long run I don't think will be a problem. I would much rather take a bit longer and keep the quality as high as possible.

An alternative moderation mechanism might be to allow people to "vote" and/or comment on new submissions. I suppose that a determined person could try and vote numerous times for an unworthy submission in the hopes of getting it approved. In which case it comes back again to having a good moderator to ensure only high quality submissions.

Steve9, help! I clicked on your onlinedegreereviews.org link and got a "this page cannot be displayed" message. What's up?

    Ted,

Hmmm. The website has been running fine as far as I can tell. I monitor it regularly to ensure everything is running smoothly. Maybe it was an intermittent glitch with my web host or a lost connection somewhere on the Internet?

Thanks for reporting the problem, and letting me know.

    Minor Website Update
I made some minor updates to the website this past weekend. Probably the most noticeable is the new list of "Most Reviewed Colleges" on the main page. For those interested, here are the top three most reviewed colleges:

    Norwich University (14 reviews)
University of Phoenix-Online Campus (7 reviews)
    George Washington University (6 reviews)

    FHSU Reviews

I wish there were more FHSU (Fort Hayes State University) reviews on your site!! Because the only review for FHSU says its a useless school!

That university gave me the most transfer credits. With the exception of slower than usual email returns, I found them pretty helpful.

They did 3 degree plans for me when I asked them to-

    :)

I wish there were more reviews as well! Maybe some current or former students will see your request and submit some more :)

I was about to suggest you take a look at this thread on Fort Hays but it looks like you already found it. From what I read it sounds like it's a reasonable school and the one review on OnlineDegreeReviews.org may not be typical.

Yes, i do believe you are correct Steve. I decided to go with FHSU because of all the credit they allowed me to transfer in. I will be taking my first class in January 07

I have heard some good things about FH, but I would like to know a bit more about the DL delivery, tests and the teachers.

Well who knows, I may be the next one reviewing FHSU on that site. Come to think of it, that site seems a little slow lately too-

    :D
