I’m guessing some people just have an exam phobia. I’m personally the exact opposite. I’d prefer to only do exams and little to no essays. Lucky for me this isn’t a huge challenge for an undergrad degree. I’m guessing it may be more of a challenge to find a masters program that’s mostly exams.
Cerro Coso Community College offers online History classes. I have taken two, US History I & II. They are not very difficult. They do have exams but basically they can be taken open book. http://cconline.cerrocoso.edu/
They might be hard Really, I could not take a course that has an exam. I travel so much it took me 7 months to complete one course at Indiana University. I ended up taking days off of work to schedule my protored test at the library.
Perhaps you could clarify why you specify why this DL US History course needs to be without exams. Is it the inflexibility of needing said exams proctored at a specific time at a specific center? Would greater flexibility in choosing a proctor (like maybe a local librarian) and times (like evenings and weekends) for the exam make exams more palatable? How else might you be evaluated if there were no exams? Perhaps a course where the grade is based entirely upon term papers? Please explain.
Apology Hi Michael, I mis-read the question, so I apologize. Is that History of 1945-present? They were going to offer that course at the Northern VA Campus (where I used to work as an AC) but it never happened. Either way, he's right, the course has no exams, I was referring to the courses on-ground, which is irrelevant anyway pertaining to the thread. The cost is high though, I think they are up to $470 per credit hour now....
I’m guessing some people just have an exam phobia. I’m personally the exact opposite. I’d prefer to only do exams and little to no essays. Me too. I CLEP'ed out of a year's worth of credit. I saved enormous time and effort. Lucky for me this isn’t a huge challenge for an undergrad degree. I’m guessing it may be more of a challenge to find a masters program that’s mostly exams. The MBA from Scotland's Heriot-Watt University is all exams. I've heard their exams are very very tough, though, although evidently there's one legendary student who took them all in one day. -=Steve=-

I am teaching on Saturdays when they offer it for me.
