    Forensic Accounting

I agree with the above poster about forensic accounting. Remember that many, many government employees are due to retire in the next few years, and agencies are always on the hunt for management, financial and accounting training and experience.

In fact, a fascinating aspect of this field operates in the intelligence realm. I know a couple of people who work as contractors doing forensic accounting of foreign bank accounts and money laundering...Wouldn't it have been nice if they would've caught Moussaoui's (the supposed 20th hijacker in 9/11 now on trial in Alexandria, VA) money trail before 3,000 people had to die. It linked directly through UAE to 5 of the hijackers, according to NPR.

Forensic accounting, indeed - now there's a field in which you can make a difference with your MBA!

    Re: Forensic Accounting

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) promotes their Executive Master of Forensic Accounting pretty heavily. If you live in Florida, consider signing up for FAU's online Master of Accounting program, taking the courses that are common to both programs, and then switching to Forensic Accounting.

In-state tuition for the straight Master of Accounting is about half of the tuition of the Master of Forensic Accounting.

    Sarbanes-Oxley, terrorism, PATRIOT Act...

Corporations, auditing firms, and government agencies all need a few good accountants. Combine your Accounting degree with MIS, and you won't have to look for work; work will come looking for you.
