I'd like to think I've helped, in some small way, some people make informed decisions concerning their education, which gives me a great measure of satisfaction.

I've also made a lot of good friends that I've happened to have never met in person.

Let's see... before this site I knew nothing about accreditation and never had given it a thought...

I had enrolled in Athabasca U into the BSIT program soley because it was the only 'IT' related degee they had.

I stumbled across this site and found FHSU - I subsequently enrolled in the degree I wanted (networking / telecoms) and also saved money in the process.

two thumbs up from me :)

Found a degree program (Excelsior) and distance courses (LSU, UCLA) for my wife that we could actually afford. She didn't think it is even possible, and I can't even begin to express my gratitude to this board!

    P. S. She got her diploma (B. S. Accounting CPA Track, Cum Laude) this Monday. Woo-hoo!

Congrats to your wife! Now she can focus on the board exam.

Well, pre-DI, I have to thank John Bear for steering me from a non-RA school for my DBA. Also, the contributors helped me with my decision w/ either Nova or University of Sarasota.

Next, DI provided me with the opportunity to give back for the help I received. It also allowed me to trot out my occasional quirky sense of humour and occasional mispelling of words (love that 'u' key).

If it wasn't for DI I never would have found out about lot's of things like the "Big 3", CLEP, DANTES, RA/DETC, different school programs, different student experiences etc. etc. etc.

Now I've got 5 courses and 3 CLEPS (next week) to finish off my BS CIS at Excelsior. Thanks to another thread I found out taht I should receive an "A" for my CLEP A&I Exam and now it will be easier for me to finish with "Cum Laude"!!

I never would have thought I could finish my BS while living in Europe. With the help I found here, along with www.bain4weeks.com and Dr. Bear's books, I'm almost there.

    Very Happy!

    DI has helped me:

*Learn more about the DL industry as I start teaching my first DL class-- lots of good tips for teaching
*Find more DL classes in Finance so that I can teach Finance -- lots of good info on which class, semester length and cost
*Decide that I can do a PhD program through DL and have it be a good fit for my goals

This site "saved" me from completing an unaccredited PhD, although the MBA program in the same DL school contained much vigor. This site also pointed me towards NCU for a PhD, and it has allowed me to steer a young Marine to Thomas Edison State College, one of the "Big Three." I also derive much amusement from the likes of Uncle Janko and other regulars....they are clever fellows, indeed.

This site is where I first heard about Bellevue University. Additionally I saw Dr. Bear say flattering things about the school. At that point I was able to research the school and decide that it was a legitimate and expeditious avenue to finish by B.S.

I also enjoy reading, and occasionally contributing to, the conversations that strike my fancy.

So far Degreeinfo has taught me more about accreditation than any human being should be forced to know...but it's very useful.

I've have been helped tremendously by DesElms and some others when I found out (was told) about Southwestern College to attain my BS...due in Nov. 06.

Additionally I have gained a zeal for higher education and discovered that I too, would like to teach online.

I have found out about some truly wonderful places such as St. Josephs College of Maine, which though I may not get an MBA now...my brother is enrolling with them in January because he is a Business undergrad....so it's helped him.

I found Troy University from here...which is probably where I'll get my MSCJ from to teach with.

I have found a host of other schools that are gems and learned a lot about them. Such as, AMU/APUS, solid soon to be RA and one of my Officers is enrolling with them.

Southwest University, my Lt. is going back to school to finish his degree with them.

Ashworth College, a former Officer of mine is finishing her degree with them.

Etc. I have influenced at least 4 people to finish their respective degree when they had lost all hope of ever finishing it, because they work weird hours, don't have money, are too old, have kids, etc.

This place has taught me that it is possible and that there is a school out there for everyone.

As an online teacher, I've learned a great deal about the motivations and expectations of a significant segment of distance learners. I've also become acquainted with a literally fabulous array of charming and charmless knaves, rogues, and rounders who operate the various less-than-wonderful degree-granting sites around the world. And I found out how to become a Knight of Seborga if I want to.

Most of all, I've had the chance to exchange views with and learn from a bunch of smart, well-informed people.
