In doing my research one of the best deals I have come across is Texas Tech (http://www.dce.ttu.edu/) course from K-12 to graduate. $80/credit.

Texas Tech University Distance Learning Degree Programs:

External Bachelor of General Studies Degree Program
Master of Arts in Technical Communication
    Master of Engineering
Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering
Master of Science in Systems and Engineering Management
Master of Science in Software Engineering
Master of Science in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management
Doctor of Education in Agricultural Education (joint program with Texas A&M)

Not 1st tier, but RA and with a fair football team.

I think that's something that remains to be seen. I think if you have a solid background in the subject, the MLS degree certainly wouldn't be a hinderance.

But, everything else being equal, if a competitor had a M.A. in Communication, they would probably get the nod because of the more subject-intensive coursework/thesis.

Was there a consensus reached on the cost of Nebraska's programs? I looked at the website and have to admit to still being a little confused as to whether non-residents pay $202 or $345 per graduate credit.

What's the tuition rate? Or would it be simplest to just move to Lincoln?

About http://www.dce.ttu.edu/ DL Masters programs, a closer look to their catalogue shows the tuition is 1600 for a 3 credit course or about 533 a credit.
