And besides, the J.D. isn't a "doctorate"., at least not in the sense that DETC's proposal defines doctorates.

The distinction you're looking for is that the Doctor of Jurisprudence is a professional doctorate, not a research doctorate.

Actually, Taft is now eligible to apply to offer a doctoral program through the DETC pilot program. Whether they will or not remains to be seen.

As has been mentioned already, they formally had a Doctor of Education program through their Boyer Graduate School of Education. (I am currently completing the program as I entered before they acheived DETC accreditation.) I did notice the question about utility of such a Masters Degree from a NA school. The acceptance of course work for renewing certifications depends on the state. I do know that there are states that do accept NA work.

I do not know if any states accept the credits for initial certification.

On a personal level, I have found the doctoral program to be helpful in the performance of my current job.

Hi Sam: Help help me Rhonda. I couldn't find a site for Boyer. Is there one?

Actually, Boyer merged with Taft. They are no longer accepting doctoral students just as other DETC accredited schools no longer accept doctoral students.
