Point taken. "American Football" would be more accurate as opposed to “rest of the world” football (a.k.a. soccer). We can save the debate about the virtues of soccer as a sport, for another time, but your point about North American abuses of the Queen’s English are acknowledged. What I’ve always found perplexing is that if you ask any group of average Americans what language they speak, you’ll only hear it described as English 70% of the time. OK, I’m American and as jingoistic as the next guy, but American is not a language (just like soccer is not a sport)… sorry.

As an aside, on my vacation to St. Martin this summer, I spoke French well enough (or poorly enough, depending on your vantage) to be confused with a Canadian. I’m still not sure if I should have been insulted or not. :D

    Cheers,
    Tony

No, Dolphins probably couldn't beat the Hurricanes

Have you watched the last two Atlanta games? You know, the ones that counted. Michael Vick is a bad dude and defenses don't know what to do with him when he plays his game. The problem is everybody wants to turn him into something he is not. If they let him play his game and build around that they may win it all.

Patriots are the best team in the NFL right now, but there are teams that have really improved. Look for the Jets, Bengals, and Vikings to have very good seasons.

There know doubt that when they play him right, Vick is the best QB in the league. Hell, probably the best RB in the league. He was making St Louis look like a second rate high school team. The St Louis defense was almost as embarrassing as the Miami offensive line.

Here's the problem: Their two games came against San Francisco who is the worst team in the league (even worse than Miami, at least Miami has a defense) and St Louis who is not even close to their Superbowl days. They have a good chance to make the playoffs, but Phili and Minnesota are more complete teams with mobile QBs in their own right. When Atlanta gets two solid running backs and a better defense they should be Superbowl bound.

You mean to tell me that Phili didn't improve by get TO. He had 3 TDs last week and he will have 2 or 3 today. I hate TO and his attitude, but he's a great wide receiver.

I agree with most of that, but Warrick Dunn ain't a bad RB.

I especially agree with this: "I hate TO and his attitude, but he's a great wide receiver". TO is overrated because of his big mouth and antics. Holt, Harrison, Moss are much better receivers, and I think before the season is over TO will be more trouble than he is worth.

Warrick Dunn is a good RB, I think it was a good addition for them when they signed him last year.

I think TO is gonna eat crow starting today when Caulpepper and Moss come in to their stadium and show him up. I think he's comparable to the three you mentioned. All I want for Christmas is for a linebacker to light him up real good before the seasons over just to shut him up.

    Go 9ers!

(oops - they are 0-2. Time to bring Eddie D back - a man who knew how to build a team!)

It's a very good time to be a Boston sports fan. The Pats and the Sox are both winning and the Celtics...err, umm, never mind.

Where is Joe Montana when you need him?

I think the New England Patriots cloned him in Tom Brady, the Pats look like their on the way to another Super Bowl Championship!

    Go Pats!!

Whatever doubts I had about the Patriots were erased on Sunday. I thought that Corey Dillon might have seen his best days already, and he then goes out to scorch the AZ defense for 150+ yards rushing.

Barring catastrophic injuries, the favorite for the Lombardi Trophy has to be the Patriots.

    To Bruce,

Of course being a Pats fan also, I would agree with you, so, we better enjoy this run the Patroits are having, because we may not see this again for quite a while.

But, with the Pats finally having a good running game, they should stay at the top for a while. :)

I don't want to jinx them by using the "D Word" (dynasty), but this football team will be very good for a very long time.

Oh please, do you think that the Pats would be able to compete with some of the real dynasties of the past? No way!

Now I grant you, the Pats are one of the best coached teams around, ever.

But, they are not the Cowboys of the 90s thats for sure.

    Interesting week.

Is California for real? Will they upset USC next week? I think they might.

Will Texas upset Oklahoma? I think this may happen also.

Your right, the Pats are not like the Cowboys of the early 90's, none of the Patriots have been put in jail, as far as I know of, for having a drug party at someones house!! :D

OHHHH, I'm sorry, were you talking about what they did on the field or off the field? ;)

    Tireman, Greetings,

I was just having a little fun with the Boys, they did have a great team during that time!

They may have won one or two more Superbowls if they did not party so much! ;)
