I also agree. Education would be less satisfying and valuable if its only benefits are financial.

I was looking for a career change, which my degree certainly helped me get. I have a job working for my counties children & youth department. My degree filled the requirement for a Bachelor's degree with/18 hours of social sciences. I really enjoy it and have been at my new job for over a year.

Queen of England and the House of Saud? Royalty; hence, no degree required.

Paris Hilton? Inherited money from grandfather, a hotel magnate; no degree required.

Bill Gates? Left college to pursue the economic opportunity that made him a billionaire. Even without Microsoft, Mr. Gates could have waited for daddy to die and leave him a big trust fund.

    :D

Boy! Within my first few posts of being on this board I sure came out swinging.

A little embarrassing now that I look back on it.

Oh well, I was just getting into this new world where you share ideas with people on the Internet.

Also, I see that I was a little insecure around other people that were educated being that I only went to school through a few weeks of the eighth grade.

In retrospect I think that I was afraid to venture out and attain my degree. I thought that I wasn't good enough, I suppose.

Wow, how a few short years change things!

I think I owe DI a great big thank you.

And now Bill Gates's dad, Bill Sr., is trying to increase death taxes, because, hey, no one needs to leave their kids anything, it can all go to the government. I kid you not. You can tell--It's a sore point with me.

Bill Gates II, the bankrupt business lawyer from downtown Seattle, can bequeath all of his money to the government, if he so wishes, for all I care. Clearly one of his kids no longer needs Daddy's money and, if there are other kids needing help, Bill Gates III, the wealthy computer mogul from Redmond, can always give a bit of spare change to his broke brothers and sisters, if he has any. But, be that as it may, inheritance taxes are an attempt to solve a problem which arrives at the wrong solution.
