Who's up for a road trip? Toronto is not that far. We could set up a DegreeInfo booth. We could hand out lanyards (if we had any lanyards) and t-shirts (if we had any t-shirts). Also, it's an excellent cosplay opportunity. https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-academic-summit-2020-speakers-announced
It looks like higher education administrators' own little Davos. A place for them to meet and network, and pretend that their meeting is doing something useful for humanity. Probably fewer private jets. (But maybe not.)
Is the Times footing the bill, or is a corporate sponsor? I ask as the saga of Central European University and its recent move from Budapest to Vienna is front and center in the program.
Always happy to be cast as Jean Reno, even if the role is fleeting. The topics of the Summit are pretty clearly for academic admini-critters who view themselves as corporate leaders and visionaries. The Times is owned by gazillionaire Rupert Murdoch of NewsCorp fame. CEU is rather famously gazillionaire George Soros’ new university, and one that always makes me think ‘corporate’ when its name comes up.
