Is there a way to increase the automatic log out time? I can barely get through some threads before I am logged out. It also ruins the "new since.."
There is no automatic DI timeout. To my knowledge the only feature that has a time limit is the editing feature.
Really, it's awful. If I stop to write a post I usually have to relogin to actually post it. Worse, if I visit the site, start reading then get called away it marks everything as read. So I miss posts. Maybe it's chrome? It doesn't happen with my other blogs.
Dave, it was easier for me to just screencast an explanation than to describe it, but perhaps this will help: Staying Logged In To DegreeInfo
Hey Steve, I kinda like your voice. BTW, it looked like you've got a pm waiting for you.:You_Rock_Emoticon:
Cool that should help. Will it also keep the posts from being automatically marked read? It just happened again because my daughter came and talked to me for 5 minutes. Basically, if I don't read it or mark it read myself, I'd rather it stayed in the unread state. Dave
I don't think that happens if you haven't read it, but it won't come up as new if no one's commented since the last time you checked, whether you actually looked at it or not.
Oh shoot, and I know what it is, and it's something I forgot that was actually really important. (Seriously.)
nice demo- that's what i do too, thought I made it wayyyy harder than it had to be. I used to click "reply" to get the failed login prompt. Thanks for the shortcut! PS I'm on Chrome, and never get logged out
Yep that did the trick. Much better. Any way to fix the main login so that you have the remember box? Or replace it with a login link to the "good" login? There must be lots of folks struggling.
Hmmm. Let's see, where did I put that DegreeInfo "To Do" list? OK, first we're going to enable avatars, then make the user titles customizable, we're going to enable the "likes" feature, then we're going to create the special "stickies" forum, then we're going to fix the search widget, then update the front page, then the banner, THEN the login box. And it all starts just as soon as Ted finishes his research on the Civil War and the Reconstruction Period. OK?
