Is there some super-secret way to get a quick, accredited master's degree that I don't know about ? There are no CLEP or standardized ways to test out of master's level classes that I know of (no life experience or prior learning portfolio's, etc.). There has to be something out there aside from getting some odd degree from a 3rd world country that may or may not be recognized in the USA.:unitedstates:
Well, if you really, really know what you're doing you can take the exams for an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. I believe there was one person who took them all on the same day. I'm not aware of any Master's degree from a university in an economically developing country that's faster to earn than, say, a ten month MBA from American InterContinental University. Sure, there are degree mills out there, but that's true in most countries, including... :unitedstates: :unitedstates: :unitedstates:
To add to this idea, Patten, WGU, and Argosy are all offering competency based MBA degrees that, with knowledge, time, and experience, theoretically could be knocked out in one to two of their time blocks. I think Patten and Argosy have four month blocks and WGU is six. Rebel100 is a font of information on WGU and their MBA offering, having completed it and documented his experience there.
I suddenly feel as though I've arrived. WGU does have masters in Teaching/Business/Nursing that are competency based, there are people who have completed the programs (MBA) start to finish in as few as 6 months. One semester at WGU is 6 calendar months and will run $3250 books and material included (MBA). Under the competency model once you demonstrate command of the subject material, usually through a written assignment, you are done with that and can proceed. 6 months is doable but unusual, 12-18 months is more the norm. Neither am I. In fact, I don't know of any from foreign schools that can typically be done in that time frame. The big advantage there is cost. For example, there are good Indian schools where a distance MBA will cost a Westerner from $1,900 to $2,600. They will mostly take two years, though. I suppose one could, for very little more, complete a NA distance MBA in the US at ILM. (~$3,000). Perhaps, with concerted effort, that degree could be completed in a shorter time than 2 years. The TESC MALS has a 12 unit learner designed area of study. Plus it might be possible to tailor the 6 unit capstone around your experience. Other that what is on their web site I know nothing about this degree.
