Hello friends, I am really confused and frustrated for my admission:-( Please help me if you can. I am an international student currently on dependent visa (F2) here. I want to do masters in Managment Information System (MIS) or Management Information Technology (MIT). I have done Bachelor of Arts (3 Years) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (One and half years) from India. I have 2 years work experience as a system analyst in a software company at India. I have not given GRE. My TOEFL score is 71/120. Please suggest me some good schools that can offer me admission despite my limited background (bachelor degree in arts) and no GRE and low TOEFL score. I am looking for online (preferable) or on-campus MS program. I need to get an I20 form to change my visa status to student from dependent. Most of the online uni. (e.g. pheonix) do not offer this. Moreover, I heard that those are not reputed schools. Can anyone suggest me some good schools that can offer me admission with I20. I can not afford expensive schools so please suggest me if you have affordable programs in your mind. With anticipation of favor and quck response. Regards
Your Bachelor's degree (3-years) + your PGDCA can be evaluated equivalent to a 4-year US Bachelor's degree. See here: World Education Services: WES India Policy No online-only schools can issue I-20, as I-20 can be issued only by B&M schools. You need to be a full-time student to get I-20. and per Immigration, online schools can not be classified as full-time. And please - do not try to enter into something like tri-valley and mess-up your career. Please check with the B&M schools in the state you live-in. Most of these have blended learning options, wherein you can take some courses in the class room, and some online. Let me hammer this into your mind again - NO ACCREDITED AND REPUTED SCHOOL CAN GIVE YOU I-20 AND ALLOW YOU TO STUDY 100% ONLINE.
Thank you for the valuable input msganti. Yeh, I also want quality education and I want to study on campus. My concern was my lower score of TOEFL and no GRE. If I can get in good school with my current profile, that will be great. If anyone has any suggestion about any good school/program which may offer me admission with my current profile, I would really appreciate that.
Dear Tekman, I want to give full time for my education while attending the school. I really want good education so that I can get good job in this country in IT/software industry after my study.
Well, Boston University's Master of Science in Computer Information System Required: 550/Paper or 215/CBT. No GRE requires; however, I am not sure how they measure the current TOEFL score. URL: https://cisonline.bu.edu/admissions-requirements/
TEKMAN - the OP has said he/she is on F2 visa - which means a spouse of a foreign student (who is already in US on a student visa). Hope that clarifies your question. Iamconfused - if you can share what state you are residing in, someone can suggest programs. Either case, select a school in your state, ask them if they can waiver TOEFL/GRE requirements based on your qualifications and experience. I sincerely suggest getting your educational evaluation done first (both for your Bachelor's and PGDCA in one single evaluation report). The money you spend on it (~$200) is a wise investment. Once you know where you stand (with the evaluation), you can start talking to admissions counselors at colleges to talk about waivers. Evaluation tips - use an agency member of (NACES® - The Standard of Excellence for Credential Evaluation Services). I used (Global Credential Evaluators, Inc), and they did not ask for my official transcripts (which are a pain to get from home country). WES needs official transcripts.
Dear msganti, I am residing in South Dakota but I am ready to move anywhere for my education. Ok, I will get done with educational evaluation. So, is GCE evaluation accepted by all univeristies? If it is, I will go for it. Still I am looking for few other names of universities. Otherwise I will end up with applying to many many schools (~$100 each) :-( and may be still not getting the admission.

Don't forget to check Colorado State University's Global Campus on Master of Science in Management w/ Technology Management.
GCE s a member of NACES, so many universities may accept it, but some universities insist on a specific evaluator (ECE, WES, AACRAO). So, it's better to short-list your target schools first, and then research on them to see what they take. I would suggest looking at universities in your state first - South Dakota State University, University of Dakota etc. Most universities offer In-state tuition rates for International students if they have resided in that state for a certain period (at least Texas does). So, your best bet is local universities. SDSU has a MS in CS program with a track in MIS.
May I recommend Dakota State University's MS in Information Systems program? The university is in Madison, SD and offers a mixture of on-campus and online classes for the MSIS Degree. There is no GRE requirement for admission. I am one year into the program and I have enjoyed it greatly! The faculty is great and I've had some great classmates, as well. Here's a link if you want to check it out: MSIS - Masters of Science in Information Systems at Dakota State University Good luck!
