Hey! I wanted to post a quick intro. Several months back I found this site and probably read every post. After a zillion requests, I never could get my membership approved, so eventually I emailed a couple members of the board to see if they could help me. Today (thanks Steve!) I was given access to the boards! I really found this board so helpful in getting myself up and running - choosing a program- understanding how it all works- etc. I hope to finish my first online degree (it IS so addicting) late summer 08. I am excited to join your community here!
You're welcome Jennifer -- I'm just glad you could finally join us! I see you're studying for the American Literature CLEP. If it's all the same to TESC, have you considered the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP as an alternative? It's also worth six credits, but it's very easy especially for native speakers of English -- it's essentially a glorified reading comprehension test. -=Steve=-
Hi Jennifer, Should you wait on the Cornell certificate a bit to finish your bachelors degree? A thought... Dave
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! Bruce- no problem. Just happy to be here. Steve- I already did A&I lit, this will be a gen ed elective for me. I homeschool my 4 kids, so I am pretty comfortable with American authors (like going through school over and over and over again each year!) Right now I have my Social Sciences CLEP on Wednesday which has me a little freaked out LOL. Dave- The certificate is not a graduate credit certificate, it is continuing ed/professional development. TESC estimates my graduation date as December 08 (even though my last class will be finished in July). So, depending on how it all comes together, I'll probably have some down time inbetween finishing my last TESC course and grad school. It could be several months. Cornell hospitality/hotel classes are well respected in my circle, so seemed like a good time to work it in.
Hi Mark! It will be Liberal arts or Social Sciences. I am approaching the cross-road and will need to decide soon. What about you?
I took the Natural Sciences/Mathematics fork off the same road on which you're progressing. Best of luck!
Hi. Sure thing. It just seemed like you might be overloading yourself... Nailing down the bachelors degree is so important. Dave
Many of the Cornell certificates are ACE reviewed, so they might help her finish her bachelors. (A pricey way to get ACE credits, IMHO.) Welcome aboard Jennifer.
>> Thanks! My cert wouldn't help, it would be electives-which I have. Anyway, my hubby is thinking about Harriot-Watt next year. Are you happy with the program? We couldn't find out if there were any exam centers near us. Do you know of a resource? Thanks!!
