I will be graduating soon with a BSLS @ excelsior Focus Business & Insurance. I am currently an AVP for a large company; I was wondering if a master in law with a concentration in Taxation will be more beneficial / impressive than an MBA. Since there are so many MBA's already in the Marketplace and due to the fact that I have already 12+ years in management. Next: Will having an LLM from William Howard Taft a DETC institution be less impressive than having an MBA from an RA University? Are there any other RA institutions that offer similar programs as TAFT U? Thank you very much , any advice is greatly appreciated!!!
Sorry, I did not realize that The Master of Laws was specifically designed for practicing attorneys and other law school graduates!!!
The University of London has an LLM that may not require a law degree as an entry requirement. http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/prospective_students/postgraduate/laws/index.shtml This degree may be worth considering. The university is very highly ranked and prestigous. You certainly won't get any quibbles whether it is DETC or RA.
Thank you for the answers! Other than MBA what other "Business oriented" Graduate degrees will be the most impressive. Thanks again
What are you hoping to do with your degree? Specific degrees/concentration of studies may be more relavent to you, rather than the prestige factor of holding an impressive credential. Of course this all depends on what you are attempting to accomplish with your degree.
What are you hoping to do with your degree? Answer: I am currently an AVP for a very large company. I would like to get promoted to VP /sr VP and who knows one day all the way to the top. I already have over 10 years of management experience and several Industry certifications. So the next logical step would be an MBA however It seems like MBA's are everywhere these days. Another route would be to go for a top school MBA which is too expensive , company tuition reimbursement will not cover it. The other solution would be too find a fancy impressive Business oriented graduate degree, in the Hope that it would make me stand out in the crowd!!! Thank you,
Pilot, I notice that you have a Diploma in Collegial Studies in Social Sciences. Am I correct in assuming that is from a Quebec Cegep? The reason I ask, besides curiousity, is that Universite de Quebec en Outaouais offers an interesting executive MBA (in English) at not a bad price ($18000 or thereabouts). It's about a 90 minute drive from Montreal and you go once a week. If not, then my apologies as you just wasted 30 seconds reading that wondering what that hell I was talking about.
That's correct It's from a CEGEP located in Montreal, I live in the U.S.A now. But thanks for the advice
In that case UQO won't be much good to you. I think in your position I'd go for the MBA. I've always thought Touro was a decent program, although there is a lot of choice in terms of online programs now so you can definitely shop around.
