It depends on which lanaguage you write in. For example, if you were to write 45,000 words in German it might end up being 375 pages. ;)

Hi. Some master degree programs require a thesis. Doctoral programs require a dissertation. In South Africa, UK and Australia (and other countries), these terms are typically reversed, with the master candidate writing a dissertation and the doctoral candidate writing a thesis.

The length of time allowed could be a year to five years (or more), depending on the level of study, etc. One important difference is that doctoral studies are original works that usually collect data. Note that these are both "guided" processes in that you are more or less being advised on to proceed at various stages, including topic selection.

As with all writing projects, one thinks at the beginning how you will fill at least one hundred pages and then one thinks at the end how you will ever limit the project to within a few hundred pages.

    Best wishes,

    Dave

No, but necromancing a 12-year-old thread with only a two-word response might be. :wink1:

Assuming 250 words per page, 180 pages.

    Near-sighted Glayva*-crazed Scots. 64 point type. 12 words per page. 3,750 pages.

(tho it hasn't happened yet): chocolate peppermint liqueur, Goo Goo Cluster liqueur,
    and Glayva.
