Living in Germany now, my house is 25 km away from the base. Thus, I don't receive AFN and I'm all the better for it lol.
My TV lineup is Al Jazeera Arabic and English, CNN International, BBC World, France 24 French and English, Euronews and Eurosport. I'm satisfied. I have no idea what shows are playing in the States and don't care. It's been 3 years that I haven't seen any commercial, except the occasional one on French or German TV. It's soul-cleansing honestly, no more commercial bombardment any time that we have a national holiday, no more stupid canned laughter on dumb half-hour shows, but unfortunately no more access to the History Channel, PBS or Hulu online.

To the OP, I learned something from being around here (and it was kinda reinforced by Abner, MBA): It doesn't matter where you get your degree from as long as it's 1) accredited by the US. Government 2) in line with your needs and aspirations 3) if you can get in the best school that you can afford, do so. That's what I tell my soldiers when asked.
Those who hem and haw or dither about going to school just take forever to NOT accomplish much. That's why I personally just took a step to enroll in an online AACSB-accredited MBA despite other financial obligations tugging at my purse strings.

We don't even have T.V. in my house. When we moved we never hooked it up and now after almost three years, we really don't miss it. We do watch movies every now and then but even 1 movie a day is still 90 minutes to 2 hours tops which is less than half the national average I believe.

Anyhow most of our time is spent reading, studying, online, etc. For me personally the more I am out of the house the better, riding motorcycles has become something of a passion, as is playing guitar, writing music, watching bands play live and of course the endless pursuit of the perfect pair of cowboy (western) boots.

*shamed sideways glances*....I watch a lot of TV....

It lends itself well to my job. I sit watching a progress bar all day, but cannot pay enough attention to books during my work time to get any value from them. The solution is retarded funny TV that doesn't require me to pay close attention (I can zone out and in and still enjoy it as I wait hours for windows to reload, anti-virus to scan, etc). I NEVER used to watch TV, and then I got this job and now I watch hours per day. That said, I don't have a converter box for the office yet so I'm not watching very much for the last month or two. I'm waiting for a deal on craigslist. That's part of why my attendance here has jumped these last couple months.
