Rich, I’ve been reading through these forums for pass few days and haven't had got the warm fuzzy feeling about DETC accredited schools. The original poster on this board questions accreditation of Grantham University and ask why anyone would go with a DETC accredit school? He states RA is better and more transferable Obviously Grantham University didn't meet his goals.

Based on your credentionals you’re obviously an expert in distant education. Maybe you can explain to me why an RA school holds more weight and is more acceptable when the accreditation process varies from region to region

As far tests go if the same exam is administered to each individual at least there is some type of standard. In my opinion that makes it more objective than subjective.

If you're so confident of this fact then why don't you name your school?

What on earth was that about? If you would of research a tiny bit you would of known what school he attends (and his background). He has mentioned it a couple times in his posts.

This has been discussed many times. I'll try to give the boiled down version.

The primary issue is utility. The utility of a DETC degree is slightly less than the utility of an RA degree. The difference is most pronounced in the academic sector rather than the job market.

Why? is a much more subjective discussion. I think it has to do primarily with RA having the longer history and making up the vast majority (better than 99%?) of the graduates. The DETC schools haven't been around as long and therefore don't have the same reputation built up.

There seems to be a small but sometimes vocal population that argues that RA is afraid of everything else and conspires against everything else and that even DegreeInfo is part of this vast conspiracy monopoly to keep DETC down. (I had to add this one in for my own personal amusement, sorry.)

The trend seems to be that DETC degrees are gaining in utility and acceptance based primarily on it seems that there's more explicit policies of acceptance by RA institutions.
