Cheney hands down. Edwards appeared stunned and frustrated several times. He also sounded like a broken record at times. I never liked Cheney but am now a fan. Edwards didn't do so well as I thought he would.
Cheney blew Edwards out of the water. Next to Cheney, Edwards looked like an inarticulate, inexperienced wannabe. BLD
This is what happens when someone with a solid record, with experience and ideas, goes up against a "sound bite."
Cheney looked like the mean spirited career politician employee that he is. So far most on-line polls are either a close tie or for Edwards.
Cheney certainly was better than Bush, though that's not hard. I think Edwards still got the better of him. Edwards at least had ideas for change. More of the same from Cheney. When Edwards brought up Halliburton, I thought Cheney's pacemaker was going to short. Early poll from CBS was 43% Edwards, 29% Cheney. 2-0 so far. Bring on Friday.
I think Cheney won but I was really impressed by John Edwards. I'm shocked at the polls...CBS and Fox have it going to Edwards--ABC has it going to Cheney (I thought Fox was "Republican country"??).
I think it is funny to watch people look at stuff like this subjectively and try to spin that his or her guy won. I think this one was pretty close, but Cheney probably got the upper hand. His confidence, knowledge, power, and quick wit showed well compared his boss. I do not think that Edwards was bad at all though, and do not see how Cheney wiped the floor with him. I thought Edwards was very articulate and energetic, but has a tough job trying to sell Kerry's record and plan that even Edwards is probably not clear about what it is. I like Edwards much better than Kerry.
