Dr. Bear has related many experpiences where he has contacted well-known publications to complain about their practices of carrying advertising from many less-than-wonderful schools. It seems as though their general editorial attitude was "as long as the check clears, we'll print it".

It is sad, because these publishers lend their credibility to otherwise not very credible institutions. In effect, they are major contributors to the problem.
