    Janko,

Are you sure you wrote that sermon yourself, or did you get it from one of those Internet sermon mills? ;)

No, I wrote it myself--somebody had to.

  3. And now, to piss several people off...

. . . although that is not my intent per se, but a recognized by-product of what I am about to write . . .

I really haven't bothered looking at the modern manifestation of ACCS . . . until now.

But there seem to be so many people who have become involved with this school that I felt compelled to do some research.

So before the pissing contest begins, I'll tell you up front that I"m simply going to present my conclusion - no apologia, no debate forthcoming. Been there, done that, can't be bothered.

That said, in my opinion - and I purport it to be no more than my opinion, but that it is an informed opinion - ACCS fulfills multiple criteria of being a degree mill.

Let me put it more subjectively: I would, quite frankly, never hire an ACCS graduate for a ministerial, pastoral, or academic position. In my opinion, the school is, as I have said about other schools in the past, a joke.

Now, I've always said that about previous manifestations of ACCS (Modular Education, University of Biblical Studies), but never about ACCS under its current name. Until now.

As for their TRACS accreditation, if y'all all don't know what I think about TRACS already, you never will.

Get over it, kiddies. And talk among yourselves.

    How conveeenient!
How about an objective opinion from you? Why is it a joke? I see you were careful to call it neither a degree mill nor a diploma mill. Why not, if your research revealed so much?
Again, how conveeenient. Now you don't have to answer to your critics. Well done, Steve.
Once again, you conveniently excuse yourself from criticism. I admire your skill at this, really I do. However, I think that if you had credible evidence of this, you should share it. In that way you would save many from wasting their money, in addition to advancing the field of distance learning. No Steve, no more hyperbole, no more bombast. Tell us what you have found, if anything.

    Regards,
    Tony

Hey, I like using that phrase for an old sermon...

We have always called it "re-hashing"

Did not do it very often, but once in awhile (like the situation you presented during the holidays), an old sermon that had been preached somewhere else did make it into the rotation...

But they were always sermons I HAD written..

Since you are not now, nor will you ever be, in a position to do the above, I guess none of us need be too concerned.

Unk: Do you use the Lectionary - if this has to do with Jeremiah 31:7-14 I would like to plagarize "oooops" I mean use it as a further resource...........

Howard: I use the lectionary, but that Jeremiah text is not on it. I really don't know how the various lectionaries line up. Ours has Isaiah 60, Ephesians 3, and Matthew 2 for all three years of a three year cycle. Occasionally I depart from it entirely or add/delete verses to make a pericope make more sense.

I think we are probably using the same lectionary cycle --- ours has the same that you quoted for Epiphany, but different scriptures for Sun. Jan. 5. Blessings, Howard.

    Re: still plugging away

Good luck Robert. Glad you are doing so well. I think the first time I *spoke* with you things were going slowly and now you are almost there.

As someone else has pointed out, you would be more likely to find ACCS grads teaching in TRACS schools (of which there are becoming more and more). As you mention in regards to LRS, many of their grads have done well (virtual whose who of the Southern Baptist Convention). Some like Dr. Stephen Olford (LRS grad) have even had a Chair (no jokes please) named after him (Beeson I believe...................spelling??). Some of it (success) depends on your own individual circumstances & competencies.

Who knows, maybe Barry Davis will become ACCS' first famous grad (keep publishing Barry) :D ............Or Bill when he finishes his Magnum Opus (sp ??). In all seriousness though, ACCS is experiencing significant growth and that means that as a relatively new program it's grads may make a mark over time as more graduates enter ministry or continue their ministries. The same in a secular sense would apply to Capella or TUI, etc.

Look forward to calling you Dr. Robert some day. Stay focussed and best of luck. Maybe you will be the famous alumnus. :)

Isn't Davis the one who who wrote " A Confrontation With Confessional Lutheranism"..........

..........which suggested that that group has many threads of liberalism?:D

Naw, Barry has a website called: The Claims of Christ.

    Sorry Unk. (and Barry)

How far you have fallen from the Reformed tree. Come back Bill.....come back....... Before we know it you will be full fledged into Open Theism (Arminianism taken its logical conclusion). :D

Note: To all. These are jokes. I have a great deal of respect for Bill and the intellectual exercise involved in the discussion of Arminianism and Open Theism. The concept is complicated and many explanations have been put forth in terms of providence etc. Open Theists are getting a tough time lately (I think the ETA?? slammed them again and OT members of the association are feeling unwelcome heat (basically change or get out as I understand it).

I am not saying that OT is not feeling heat in ETS, and elsewhere as well.. I am saying that I am a full member of the Evangelical Theological Society and that I receive every issue of that Journal. And in these issues, I am also saying, the OTs are given much space to express their views. I personally disagree with OT.
