The UoP point does not prove or disprove anything. It was simply an observation.

Of schools with presidential names, I'd say that Millard Fillmore Institute is by far the best.

I lived in Tennessee for three years as a child. I think the Five Civilized Tribes (Cherokees, Choctaws, Chickasaws, Creeks, and Seminoles) ought to have fought much harder for their lands. I was watching a video on Stand Watie, the Cherokee chief and Confederate general, in which an old Creek warrior who saved Jackson's life in battle in 1814 said that he would have killed him [Jackson] then if he had known what he [Jackson] would do as president. I couldn't agree more.

I don't think I'd ever credit the Brits with being more civilized than Americans. But the Cherokees were definitely more civilized than that ruffian from Waxhaw, South Carolina.

    Andrew Jackson Univeristy

My Grandmother was a Oklahoma Cherokee. Out of respect for that side of the family Andrew Jackson University is out of the picture. It is probably a great institution, but for those of us of Native American ancestory, Andrew Jackson is what Yasser Arafat is to the Israeli. I don't think you'll ever find someone from Tel Aviv send their kid to Arafat Univeristy.

I'm still reading. Thus far I am on the war of 1812 and David Crockett’s service with Jackson. In Louisiana where I grew up, Andrew Jackson is still considered a national hero, but then rumor, myth, lies and truth surround local legends. BTW...I grew up in the Mississippi delta region.

Also I find it interesting that Jackson actually adopted an Indian (Native American) child as his son. Isn't that odd?
