The University of London now offers online Bachelor of Arts in: 1. History 2. Classical Studies 3. Business Administration Seems like a good opportunity for someone to earn an online undergraduate degree from a well-known university. University of London External Programmes Tom Nixon
Those have been mentioned before. I think it's great that they've added these majors, but they've also priced them much higher than their other DL BA's. They seem to involve much more faculity support that their traditional single exam system does.
There's another angle here. I once spent some time investigating the Philosophy degree at UofL. My question was this: if you earn your BA in Philosophy from UofL (the lead college is Birkbeck) would you develop enough of a relationship with the Birkbeck Philosophy staff to allow for admission to the Birkbeck PhD program later? The answer was "Quite possibly, yes." Obviously it depended upon how well you performed but, the point I'm trying make it that a UofL degree, even one of the newer, higher priced degrees, might be seen by some as being worth the price it it brings with it a ticket into a UK PhD program. I looked at it the same way, and UoL was my first pick. But the minumum three year rule made me finally change my mind. I figured that with my 100 units I could complete my BA and be at least half way through a master's in the same time period. I've played around with the idea of doing a UoL BA concurrently with my other studies for the reasons you listed above.
I can to the same conclusion based on similar reasoning. I recognize, however, that this reasoning may not hold true for everyone. Jack
