    Hi folks,
Here's the skinny on my first contact with UNISA, as of yesterday ( 12-12-05) I contacted the History department dean and received a canned auto-response that he is off on studies until the first of 2007, so I figured that was it and I need to find an alternative source, however this afternoon ( 12-13-05) I received a response from his associate, in essence telling me "sure you can pursue a doctorate online in History....[tell us more about your thesis and your topic of studies]."

Things are looking better each day at UNISA; the price is fantastic, so far communication is excellent and seemingly I received individualized attention. What more can I ask for?

However, if and when I'm accepted, I will register through IACI, for I feel certain that is a service that will cut out delays and red tape, with their knowledge of navigating through UNISA.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come at UNISA! I'm going to carry it through and will keep those who are interested in an alternative History doctorate up to date.

Hi Gavin - I'm glad it's going well. I have had similar luck in contacting Department Heads and their associates. Just out of curiosity, what area of History are you pursuing?

    Jack,
Good question. I have been entertaining the idea of Japanese Shintoism related to the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.
Not too broad or too narrow. However it might get rejected out of hand. Although I'm afraid anything pertaining to colonial British imperialism has been beat to death. Time will tell.
