An Alberta oddity- church run colleges whining about inadequate government funding. In most other jurisdictions they get zip.

As I told the whiner from the University of Alberta last week. That's why I pay income taxes.

I find this article surprising. York University in Toronto just spent more than $15 million dollars to upgrade two colleges, build a student center, establish a new building for the Faculty of Fine Arts and establish a new college for I.T. studies in co-opertion with Seneca College. More than 75% of the funding was from the province of Ontario.
A new university was recently built and established in Durham region (Oshawa). The University of Ontario, Institute of Technology was also recently amalgamated with Durham College. The cost for this new university was in the $10 million range.
The University of Toronto has a government approved capital expenditure program which includes the repair and restoration of several colleges.

In Alberta, university education may be underfunded because premier Klein don't got none himself.

I suspect that this report is just a case of whining brought about by a slow news day.
