How and were do you look for these adjunct jobs lol. I would love doing that, ,but I have had a time finding any. If I even had one I would leave my job today . Heck if I got a job as an RA I just might leave .

Why do I need my PH.D? so I can get more teaching jobs, also I would like to have it just in case I wanted to go deeper in Pysch .

We have an Online Teaching & Learning sub-forum. You might also want to try Adjunct Nation and the Chronicle for Higher Education.

Maybe. Maybe not. More hours will be required to start, as you take any teaching assignment you can get and try to delight the students. Plan on sixty hours per week to make 40K per year, once you include prep time and faculty meetings, etc. More hours will be required for face-to-face teaching. As you settle into teaching a few courses, and if you can get enough of those courses, then your number of hours per week will drop. You see, most schools have instructional quality assurance in place, so crappy teaching will keep you from getting more courses... to move up you'll have to put in many hours at first.

The original poster probably should think about moving closer to the job; that will instantly provide up to 10 hours per week more. Or find another job closer to home. That commute is taking precious exercise and study time. The original poster seems ready to develop high blood pressure, etc. Long term mental health could also be a consideration.

Sorry to be the guy that says this, but if you are in a PhD program I assume you have a Master's. Why are you only making $11.71 and living at home?

I'm not judging since everybody's situation is unique, for example my wife and I are raising two Autistic kiddos, never a slow day here!

Then again, maybe you are a young Doogie Howser or something, but in all seriousness, $11.71 with a Master's is pretty bad, maybe you should get some resume assistance/service to get yourself a better job first and then let the schooling fall into play.

I just can not find a good job. Do you know a place that can help me with my resume.

It's not necessarily so that working on a doctorate means that one has a master's. The PhD in Psychology at Walden University www.waldenu.edu is a 159 quarter hour program, which indicates that one is admitted directly from the bachelor's to the doctorate while getting the master's in passing. So he may be a 22 or 23 year old with a bachelor's. Which might explain $11.71 an hour and living at home. He does need to have a serious talk with Mom & Dad if they can't countenance letting him make his own adult decision on taking a semester off from school.

C'mon! You can earn a Masters degree but you don't know how to write a resume? Or, even worse, you can't find a resume service on your own?

Resume writing is not one of the things they teach you in school. Resume writing (and other aspects of getting a decent-paying job, like interviewing techniques, how to tie a tie, etc.) are things that are best taught through the process of passing on life wisdom from one generation to the next (father/mother to son/daughter). But, obviously, this guy's parents get a trip out of having absolute power over their son's life and generally infantilizing him. So, he needs to read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and learn a lesson therefrom.

Silly me. I had read that as "Band" M. Normally, I'm accustomed to seeing bricks and mortar abbreviated as "B & M."

I agree with distancedoc2007. I hit a rough patch in my life in October and needed to fall back for a minute. I dropped both of my classes so I could focus on my family. I needed time to pick myself back up. I lost my brother-in-law and twins all in the same week. I hit a real low. The lowest I have ever been in my life. I tried my best to work though it but could not.

Everything I went through made me stronger. I can't wait to get back in school next semester. I plan on abusing my textbooks.
