Time bomb detonates: High school journalists expose, oust their new principal

The news article said that prior to applying for the Principal's job the fraud was working at Atticus IS Consultants in Dubai. I googled that and got pretty much nothing. So I'm guessing that company doesn't really exist and was just manufactured as a cover for whatever she was really doing. That also suggests that the search committee didn't even check her work history. Can you believe that?

"The school was last rated as Unacceptable by Dubai's education regulator. First ranked as Unacceptable for the 2008-9 academic year, it has since had 5 follow on reports - seemingly with insufficient progress. Its 2011-12 ranking remained Unacceptable. The school was not been permitted to take on new students since March 2012"

 

One wonders what the hiring committee in Kansas could possibly have been thinking. When our local high school needed a principal, they ran a small ad in the Chronicle of Higher Education and got more than 200 applications, including one from the son of the current principal, who happened to be very well qualified. Nepotism reigned, and he has been doing a good job.

 

I know the culture there better than 99.9% of the population, it's the area where I grew up. Our town was the next high school over from Pitt High, lived 30 minutes away in Parsons. It's an attitude of apathy and fatalism, a shoulder-shrugging "Whatever". I know exactly how such things can happen there. No one really cared enough to check up. Completely unsurprising.
