The National Post (Canada) had a story this weekend (whose URL I haven't yet found) headlined: "A synagogue torn asunder: A rabbi denies charges he lied about his credentials as questions arise in firebombing" The Rabbi in question had one of his two doctorates from California Christian University (that's sort of funny already); the second was apparently even worse, but I don't know the details.
IIRC, that was Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. GS-9 Walter Rummersfield's operation, non? California's nontraditional higher education scene used to be fun. We moan about Pacific Western, Century, and the like. We debate over CCU and CPU. But my heart lies with California Pacifica, University of Central California (home of the B.A. in return for answers on a 200-question multiple-choice and true-false test), Union University (what was WUM?), and the never-say-die City University LA.
Hey, the firebombing, molestation, adultry, inappropriate comments, violation of sacraments, even the non-kosher kitchen I can take. But the Cal Christian Ph.D.? Now that's one toke over the line, sweet Jesus.
I support false academic credentials almost as much as I support firebombing and anti-Semitism (or any discrimination based on religion, amonsgt other things)--NOT AT ALL. Using false academic credentials is wrong, and firebombing is a HEINOUS CRIME! Darren.
