I am afraid that you are mistaken in every statement that you have made here. While it is true that the majority of for-profit schools are nationally accredited, since they are, by-and-large, trade and technical schools that were not designed to offer programs that transfer to regionally accredited colleges and universities. However, Capella University, Walden University, Grand Canyon University, Jones International University, Sullivan University, Rassumussen College, Herzing University, Argosy University and, of course, University of Phoenix (and several others) are, in fact, regionally accredited. Both regional and national accreditation are "PAID FOR." Students with credits from regionally accredited for-profit colleges and universities transfer to non-profit regionally accredited colleges and universities on a daily basis. Ability to transfer units is p to each institution and is more of a functional of regional versus national accreditation that for-profit versus non-profit.

The fact that there are many regionally accredited for-profit colleges and universities refutes your statement. Yes, there have been instances where non-profit schools in financial trouble have been acquired by for-profit schools. In those instances, the institution should be required to apply for new accreditation. There are no data-based empirical studies demonstrating "The for-profits substandard educational levels." There is no data supporting the opinion (and that's all it is) that students at for-profit colleges and universities learn less or worse than those at non-profits.

Welcome to the forum. You will find this is a great place where you can learn a lot about schools and accreditiation.

What my friendlier colleagues are trying to say is that with great fanfare you just loudly and proudly announced to everyone here that you don't know jack about either accreditation or for-profit higher education.
