Extraordinary. There are quite a few Old Believer villages in Siberia and Tuva. We visited three, for a few days each, ten years ago. While the people were friendly, they were generally aloof, and had little or no interest in our group, or the technology in our backpacks. But one village leader was working on his distance degree through the University of Idaho, entirely by mail. He joked that he thought the government approval for his student loan came because the school was in Moscow so they probably thought it was Russian.
