My wife and I gave each other a 50 inch flat screen. We got lucky on one of those black Friday deals! We are excited as this is our first flat screen.

    Happy New Year Peter!

The smiles of my son as he unwrapped all his loot.

I am fortunate to have been able to provide that. What other gift does a parent need?

My box of loot is upstairs. I'll have to go inventory it.

Hmmmm. I love Ice Road Truckers but the Van Daniken book is just reallyreally bad science. It might be fun to read but there are so many scientific/logic flaws that you have to wash after every read.

Santa brought me a National Championship last night. It was a few days late and sloppy, but I will take it.

    Roll Tide!

  12. F. F. Bosworth was an amazing man. To begin a new ministry endeavor in Africa at the age of 75 takes amazing character and quite a bit of strength from above! I would be interested to read his book.

The Chariots of the Gods book and movie both came out when I was a teenager. My all-knowing and perfect older brother had the book and I think I might have seen the movie at the movie houses.

Kizmet: "I love Ice Road Truckers..."

John: Yes. What a phenomenon -- the movie, and the thing itself. A couple of months ago, when Marina and I spent 4 or 5 days in Yellowknife, it was awesome to go to the start of the ice road -- just beginning to freeze over. And on our taxi tour of the town, the driver pointed to a house he said was Alex Debogorski's. The notion of going back in midwinter to stay in the Snow King's ice hotel is very much on our minds.
