What type of counseling are you hoping to do? I mean what branch marriage/family, individual etc? Personally I disagree with a CJ degree only being good for law enforcement. There are MANY careers you can get with a degree in Criminal Justice that have nothing to do with law enforcement. If I didn't believe this myself I would not be almost 95% sure that I am getting my Masters in Criminal Justice. I have absolutely zero plans of working in law enforcement.

I think if you are planning to obtain your Masters then you should find a RA school. Of course I have to give a shout out to Ottawa University if your looking for a human services program but they are 405 per credit hour and im not sure if they accept NA or not but I do know they accept a ton of transfer credits even lower grade ones. Its worth calling or checking into them if they would accept all your credits...

I started thinking just today about my Masters as well and wondering if I am making the right choice! I am really interested in the class offerings at Wilmington University and that has some pull for me as I want to enjoy my classes! But I also keep coming back to a counseling or social work degree.

All in all after all that writing up there I think you should find a RA school simply for ease of transfer if you plan to get a Masters. Whether you choose CJ or not is up to what you really want to do. There are other options for careers other than law enforcement with that degree!

. I want to get my Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor License, and in fact I do need an undergrad degree in the Human Services field to get it. You can start your internship without it, after you have gone through a Board approved program, but you need a degree in 3 years. I'm going to wrap up with my classes I'm taking right now with AJU and take a boat load with Clovis this summer and perhaps the next semester and transfer them all into EC or AMU. I'm leaning towards AMU right now, but who knows what’s next for me. I need to stop trying to put my plans into a box and just chill out! I should be proud and content I finished my first degree from AJU. But picking and looking at schools is like crack to me, I can’t stop. Thank god I pay out of pocket, I can just see the crazy debt I would be in if I did student loans.

Try AMU/APU @ American Public University System - Official Site

It is both DETC and regionally accredited, and it has a number of excellent programs such as CJ with a concentration in forensics.

As of June 2011 course start dates

Academic Credit - Undergraduate Tuition $250/credit hour = $750 per 3 credit course
Academic Credit - Graduate Tuition $325/credit hour = $975 per 3 credit course
