Prohibition of any act or substance criminalizes said conduct. I wonder why so many people are surprised then when those who have been criminalized act like criminals?

Something like that thogh I do not subscribe to this line of thought to the exclusion of others. I am increasingly concerned however how it is getting easier and easier to become a felon and how being a felon automatically turns one into a 2nd class citizen. Following this trend for another 100 years and there will be a true 2nd class America and not in just economic terms but politically and socially as well. For example this SOPA thing that the House is trying to pass...whereby any 16 year old can become a felon from the comfort of their own bedroom, even accidentally or unknowingly.
