I recently received an informal update letter from the new(?) president of Scups, Richard Gray stating there will be a tuition increase and a change from 4 to 3 semester units for each course for each new learner. I realize that obviously it is to make more money, however, I would like to know if anybody knows anything about the above individual, who, according to the update was president(?) at one point before, and if any changes seem to be in the future. Any thoughts, comments or ideas would be welcome. Thanks. DMD
I know nothing about him. Here's a photo of him awarding an honorary degree to an educator in Indonesia: http://www.scupsint.com/alumni01.htm Incidentally, looking at the SCUPS diploma in that picture, it appears to be true, as critics have charged, that they present themselves, at least in Asia, as SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY for Advanced Studies
It looks they have him jumping from NorthCentral and Scups. If you look at the faculty profile at NCU. I spoke with him in 95 before he went to take the operation @ NCU, which I had the chance to email him when he was serving @ NCU. Could be that they may want to play the bouncing game and try to accredit SCUPS as a satellite school of NCU> It would not surprise me if happen.
Dr. Bear: Is it illegal to change the name of a school outside the US, especially to a name that could lead those in Asia to feel it's an RA school? Also, how could a school do this when it has it's conferment approval from a State as one name, and it issues internationally as another; are the degrees not then issued under State Approval?
