    scups doctorate in psych

Hello tesch - thanks for your input and taking time to alert me to possible problems. However, after talking with the two friends I mentioned in my previous post (the two accepted in to the psy d program), one has graduated and was licensed in Virginia as a psychologist. I honestly didn't think she would be able to but it happened. Then after moving down here to North Carolina, I met a fellow (Tony) who works with a sister state agency. We were talking about education, dl in particular. In conversations, he detailed his experiences in applying to doctorate programs and his decision to go with SCUPS. He has shared what the program requirements and let me browse the course outlines and requirements. I thought at the time that that was an awful lot of work to go through for a degree that would be from an unaccredited school. I said at the time I would not consider such a degree. [note: if scups had accepted the other person I mentioned, I would have questioned their admissions requirements. That is another story.]

He gave me the heads up on the new President and CEO of SCUPS and the changes they are working towards. I did a little leg work and what I plan to do is take as many courses as possible with SCUPS with the lower tuition then transfer over to NCU to finish up. But from my understanding, SCUPS is going to go for accreditation. In reading between the lines from the information given to me, they may be dropping the JD program. We will see.

Anyway, even if I finished the degree with SCUPS, that is if I am accepted, it will serve my purposes. I plan to move back to Virginia in a couple of years and the psy d is accepted there.

Let's see how things develop. It will be January 06 before I would like to start any program. I may reverse my decision.

btw, I made a boo boo in my first sentence in my previous post - hear instead of here.

    warm regards

    Robbie
