So I am looking for my first online adjunct position and figured UoP would be the best start. I just received an email saying: "We have reviewed your information, but we cannot extend an invitation for you to apply at this time based on our current faculty needs. However, we will keep your name and area of interest on file and will be in touch regarding any possible opportunities as our needs change." ...which I will assume is a rejection letter. How soon should I reapply? I received my Masters in Financial Economics from the University of London in Dec. 09 (I'm American) and I have pretty extensive work experience in business development and marketing. Any red flags or suggestions to improve my chances?
UoP does not pay the greatest. There are a lot of other schools out there to apply to. Apply to a few others and see what happens.
I think you received that responds due to your graduation date. I perused their website a while back and they said before one could be considered for an adjunct position, their master's degree must be at least 2 years old...........meaning you need two additional years of work experience in addition to your degree to qualify. I also think they instituted this policy to raise the standards of their adjunct pool because alot of folks with master's are still unqualified to teach. I may be incorrect, but I think UoPx has a rule in place that requires you to have finished your master's 2 years prior to applying.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Yep, I've applied at 11 other schools and counting. Hoping to get a foot in the door somewhere. Are econ and finance (non-accounting) "high demand" areas for online adjuncts?
Master's holders are a dime a dozen nowadays, I would suggest a CMA,CFA or CPA to differentiate yourself.
